Villa Amalia, St Maarten
Jeroen van der Werff
Villa Amalia (luxury villa) was a victim of hurricane Irma, the doors blew out and inside had a lot of damage. My husband & I restored the villa by doing a lot of the work ourselves to save money and also managed construction teams if we couldn’t do work ourselves. Most of the time I spend in St Maarten I was a housekeeper - keep the villa clean, managed budgets and when the family was at the villa I would prepare meals and assist where ever I could. The villa is very high-end and requires a lot of work to maintain and keep it on a 5 star level - I wrote cleaning manuals & maintenance manuals for the managers. We also restored another property for the family in Dawn Beach, Twin Palms. Escape Boutique Hotel & Beach Bar, Calibishie, Dominica Manager
Escape Boutique Hotel & Beach Bar was a victim of hurricane Maria, the property was standing for nearly two years and nature has taken its toll on the property. With the original plan to manage the property before Maria struck in 2017, my husband & I had to restore the property in 5 months to get the restaurant and bar up & running again. During construction I cleaned, restored, worked on the landscaping, build up relationships with suppliers, managed petty cash and helped where I possibly could. Since we had to start again from nothing staff had to get training and systems had to be put in place.
