Lead I/C Engineer, Stress Engineering, Houston, TX

Responsible for I/C design of styrene plant upgrades including new steam generation and distribution facilities, boilers, and utility systems. Performed P&ID reviews, prepared instrument datasheets for analytical (pH, CEMS, oxygen, sulfur oxides), flow and level instrumentation, supervised and back checked instrument design drawings including instrument location plans, loop diagrams, etc., as well as vendor data.

Participated in PHA, HAZOP and LOPA reviews. Performed Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of control panels for Residue Gas and Expander compressors, System 1 cabinets, other mechanical packages travelling extensively in the US and abroad. Responsible for instrumentation and controls for mechanical package equipment including rotating machinery and utility systems for Wheatstone LNG EPC project in Australia. Participated in P&ID and HAZOP reviews; prepared control and interlock narratives for process units.

Responsible for update of Cause and Effect diagrams, Interlock and Shutdown Narratives and Interlock Lists for the safety instrumented system on Mozambique FEED LNG project. Participated in P&ID review and revision; assisted with bid evaluation of material requisitions for in-line instruments; updated INtools database for fire and gas system equipment.

MeOH Restart Project, Channelview, Texas. Responsible for development of Cause and Effect Chart and control narratives for modification of the existing methanol unit. Prepared instrument datasheets for control and relief valves and level instrumentation.

Shell refinery project. Responsible for vendor selection and specification of field instrumentation and valving for revamp of Alkylation, Polimerization, and FCCU Units. Prepared RFQ packages for specified equipment; supported requisition, installation and commissioning of replacement equipment. Perform back checking and redlining of P&IDs and process safety documentation. Prepared pre-TAR and TAR scope of work documents to meet refinery unit turnaround schedule

Rubber Plant project. Responsible for preparing the equipment list and specifications for Rubber Lab testing equipment as part of FEED BED package. Prepared and back checked instrument sizing calculations and specification sheets for process facilities.

2008-2011

Principal I/C Engineer – KBR Energy and Chemicals, Houston, TX

Kitimat LNG Export Terminal, Canada. Responsible for creating scope documents and project specifications such as tank gauging system, SIS, and metering systems.

KBR Technology Group. Responsible for P&ID review and instrument selection for ammonia and refinery applications. Developed Boolean Logic Diagrams, Cause and Effect charts, reviewed instrument specifications.

Chevron Jack & St. Malo project offshore Gulf of Mexico. Responsible for PHA and safety analysis report reviews, preparation of Functional Specifications, API RP14C SAFE Charts and Cause and Effect Charts, review and redlining of P&IDs and D&IDs for hull and marine systems of a semisubmersible production facility.

Ras Tanura Petrochemical Complex, Saudi Arabia. Control Systems Lead for Process Envelope encompassing 5 process Units. Responsible for review of Licensors’ proprietary technology plant design including specifications, datasheets, P&ID’s, LOPA, process automation documents, etc. Supervised a team of 3 senior and 3 junior engineers.

TOTAL PazFlor FPSO project offshore Angola; 150 MBOPD production and 2 MMBO storage capacity. Lead Package CSE for the project; supervised three senior package engineers. Responsible for instrument and control issues for major equipment packages such as gas turbine generators; high pressure 10,000 hp turbine driven water injection pumps; MV motor driven process pumps; air compressors; inert gas generation systems and utilities. Participated in package equipment P&ID reviews and HAZOP studies. Visited shipyard and performed verification of installations; supported construction effort.

Exxon Marshall Madison Project, Houma, Louisiana. Responsible for the commissioning, start-up, and operation of the electrical equipment and data acquisition system for the subsea pipeline thermal test facility. Personally installed, wired up, started up and operated SCADA equipment during thermal tests.

Exxon Neftegas Sakhalin I Pre-FEED, Sakhalin Island, Russia. Responsible for the development of conceptual studies and cost estimates for the SCADA and telecommunication systems. Interfaced with Russian Design Institutes on design, construction, and commissioning issues.
