Responsible for the operation of the boiler, turbine and generator controls, and the associated equipment.

Monitor the unit’s operating status checking to determine that all systems are operating within design limits to maintain the desired electrical load requirements.

Perform daily, weekly and monthly tests of standby/emergency equipment to assure their performance if needed.

Maintain constant manual control of all boiler, turbine generator equipment during periods of startup or shutdown.

Maintain a continuous watch of all control room gauges, instruments, recorders, annunciators, and computer data for unusual or emergency conditions and take necessary corrective action to restore conditions to normal.

Direct the work of the Assistant Control Room Operator in operating and checking equipment for which the Control Room Operator is responsible.

Compute, compile and report load and other data as required by the power operations, power dispatching, and plant administration.

Assistant Control Room Operator 1976-1977

Provide the Control Room Operator with information and support by visually verifying the status of the boilers, turbine/generators and precipitators.

Make walkdowns of the boiler and precipitator, checking for normal operations and identifying problems in an effort to minimize equipment damage.

Back up for the Control Room Operator.

Auxiliary Operator 1975-1976

Responsible for monitoring and operation of all of the auxiliary systems for the boiler, turbine and generator of the assigned unit.

Operate the boiler chemical addition pumps and fill the chemical holding tanks with the proper mixtures to control boiler water quality.

Responsible for removing and returning to service pieces of equipment as necessary for maintenance or repair.

Assistant Auxiliary Operator 1974-1975

Responsible for the inside water treatment of the water softening reactivators and associated equipment.

Responsible for startup demineralizer, evaporator make-up system and the potable water system.

Assume the duties of Auxiliary Operator.

Fuel Handler 1973-1974

Responsible for the ash storage and disposal equipment located in the coal yard area.

Routine checking of all pumps associated with fly ash.

Operate the systems and associated equipment necessary to provide coal to the units coal silos.

Responsible for the equipment and systems necessary to receive fuel; either coal by rail or fuel oil by truck or rail.

Make hourly checks of bearings and operating conditions of all rotating equipment.
