PROFESIONAL SUMMARY
I have been a Registered Nurse for the past 25 years; in that time, I have worked in many aspects of patient care. Starting as a venous access nurse, Family practice office nurse, working in multiple Emergency Departments as a staff nurse, triage, charge nurse, trauma nurse, and specifically in the children’s Emergency Department of the only level 1 trauma hospital in Columbia SC. I am a very compassionate, energetic, hard working individual that enjoys performing the healthcare needs of patients. I am looking forward to advancing my career as a Family Nurse Practitioner with a practice that is committed to high-quality cost-effective healthcare for their patients.

CHARGE NURSE, WJB DORN VA EMERGENCY DEPT.
As charge nurse I am currently supervising numerus staff members to include fellow RNs, secretaries, and techs. I manage the patient flow of the Emergency department’s patients during their stay in the ED. I also function as a staff nurse of the areas that need extra staffing depending on the patient load.

As a staff nurse at Providence’s emergency department I am responsible for the patients that are assigned to my rooms and to assist in the care of all the patients that are in the emergency department. Patients range from newborn to geriatric.

Direct supervision of staff nurses, secretaries, and techs on a very busy interventional cardiology unit and progressive cardiac unit. Direct patient care was also a very active part of my job duties. Frequent interactions with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician’s assistance to maintain patient’s treatment plan.

Staff nurse in the states second busiest emergency department with patients ranging from newborn to geriatric. Positions included triage, trauma, psychiatric, floor and ICU hold, and charge nurse.

Richland Memorial is the only level one trauma center in the midlands of Columbia SC. I worked as staff and as charge for the emergency department to include the trauma bays, main ED, psychiatric ED, including the children’s ED.

Staff and charge duty in a very busy rural emergency department with limited ancillary assistance. Transfers of critically ill patients was a common procedure as there was very limited advanced care providers in this area.

As a venous access nurse my responsibilities including the maintenance of all venous access devices throughout the hospital. The administration of piggyback IV antibiotics, administration of chemotherapy agents, starting and restarting of all intermittent access devices, and PICC lines.
