Extraction of Ethanol from potato peel waste
Waste water treatment using AGBR
technology
Reduction of heavy metals using
nanoparticles
Potato peel is a zero value waste produced by
potato processing plants. However, bio-ethanol
produced from potato wastes has a large potential
market. Batches of Potato peel waste were
hydrolyzed with various enzymes fermented by
Saccharomyces cerevisae to determine
fermentability and ethanol production.
An improved Sequential batch reactor process is
Attached Growth Batch Reactor (AGBR) technology
that provisions for microbial growth on the settled media to treat the industrial wastewater using
enzymes. This technology, when used to treat
polluted river water, achieved about 90% of
reduction of wastewater parameters. Hence the
same is envisioned for the treatment of industrial effluent.
•Wastewater is treated using adsorption technology because of its ease of regeneration, simple
operation and high efficiency
•Heavy metal ions in the wastewater is a serious
environmental problem in the world
•The metal ions are harmful for the biochemical
cycles of living things
