Components Engineer/Analyst, RoHS and REACh Specialist

As an engineering service, maintained an open dialogue with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Marketing, and Applications for an organization of over 50 people, to effectively reduce cost and time by providing solutions to component problems or fulfilling new component requests.

Involved in the design with corporate RoHS and REACh process and was highly instrumental in its implementation.

Managed role in the goal of achieving RoHS compliance by a fixed deal line for corporate projects.

Communicated with manufacturing companies to promote and establish the standardization for company-wide material parts, specification, and designs with the authority to coordinate and control the use of these standard components. These are then selected for use on specific programs.

Established and maintained a computerized database which cross-referenced vendor part numbers with alternate sources to company part numbers. Reduced Engineering man-hours required to find manufacturing components 25% over 5 years.

Developed and provided second source recommendations for formally single source items when the Purchasing department needed expeditious part replacements.

Established commodity purchases (P-card) and pipeline to reduce time for engineering prototype, usually one day turn-around.

Acted as Gate Keeper for assigning all commercial p/n’s for standard components. This insured that there were no more duplicate components in the Agile data base.

Established and maintained a working understanding with Department of Defense (DoD) specifications.

Obtained replacement parts for EOL and DMSMS (diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages). Located enough remaining stock to allow engineering time to effectively manage issues without rushing separate high-cost redesign projects.

Excellent knowledge for ECR’s, ECN’S process and BOM structures.

Components Engineer (Documentation Coordinator)

Instituted a uniform part numbering system which reduced duplicate inventory parts. This resulted in a 50% cost saving over 5 years.

Instituted system to develop electrical and mechanical components documents without any drafting man-hours.

Initiated the development of a document procedure per PDF PRO professional for scanning all type of commercial drawings, ECN’s, ECO’s. Utilized the file magic program for easy storage and retrieval throughout the network. This, in turn, saved man-hours 25% over 5 years for Engineering, Manufacturing and Purchasing requested documents from the print room.

Reduced cost 25% over 5 years and scheduled objectives with after-market customers. Procured spare parts for sub-assemblies and component products.
