Risk Weighted Asset (RWA): The U.S. Regulatory Capital Rule (U.S. base III) requires Bank Holding Company (BHC) to keep a certain level of capital ratio. The capital ratio is derived from capital amount divided by Risk Weighted Asset (RWA). When the bank is established as BHC, the BHC must measure the capital ratio periodically. So, RWA is a major component of the capital ratio. However, there are no systems nor reporting tools for RWA currently.

Single Counterparty Credit Limit (SCCL): As a part of Regulatory Act, SMBC will have to have a capability of calculating each transactions credit exposure and of aggregating them on Ultimate Parent, Control Relationship and Economic Independence basis. SMBC currently have transactional information in CDW but have no functionality to populate their credit exposure amount. Also, there is no place to store the information regarding the identification of Control relationship and Economic Independence based on the single counterparties’ group entities’ identification criteria.

Gathered the technical requirements for creating the BHC RWA/SCCL Reports.

Created the BHC RWA Reporting and BHC SCCL Reporting Models with four-layer architecture (Database, Business, Dimensional and Presentation) against the RWA_CALC_DM, RWA Common Dimension and CDW data marts.

SMBC (Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation) – BHC Reporting

To support future strategic acquisitions, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ("SMBC") is preparing to establish a voluntary US Bank Holding Company ("BHC"). With this SMBC will be subjected to additional financial and regulatory reporting requirements which should be considered in conjunction with the development of a Consolidated General Ledger for BHC. A list of GL reports will be created for BHC to facilitate various business needs. Also, the Regulator requires BHC to create Intraday Liquidity Reports, Cashflow Projections and Liquidity Stress Test Reports. The entities in scope for BHC include Manufacturers Bank (MB), SMBC Capital Markets (CM), SMBC Nikko Securities America Inc (Nikko America), SMBC Leasing & Finance Inc (LF) and Bank Holding Company (BHC).

SMBC (Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation) – EPS Reporting

The Enhanced Prudential Standards (EPS) for Foreign Banking Organizations (FBO) requires SMBC New York Branch and the consolidated US Operations to conduct liquidity stress testing at the consolidated level. The result of this stress test will inform the size of the liquidity buffer that must be held to offset the net stressed cashflows over a 30-day stressed horizon. This process has been performed by RMDAD through a manual process involving Excel, Access and is prone to possible operational deficiencies. The scope is to create an automated liquidity stress test report incorporating New York Branch, Capital Markets, Nikko SI, Manufacturer's Bank and Manhattan Asset Funding. The scope also included creating the automated Cashflow Projections report on a previous business day basis that will source the data from New York and Cayman branches as well as the subsidiaries MB, SI, CM, LF, RS, SMFL.

Gathered the technical requirements for creating the EPS Liquidity Stress Test Reports and Cashflow Projections reports.

Created the EPS Reporting Model with four-layer architecture (Database, Business, Dimensional and Presentation) against the CDW data warehouse to support the reporting and ad-hoc analysis requirements and published the EPS Reporting Package.

Analyzed the functionality requirements and the gaps in the report design.

The Cognos 8.3 Report Studio report was expected to show Top 20 vendors for CY and their expenses for LY. But the report was pulling Top 20 vendors for CY and then Top 20 vendors for LY, combining them and displayed the final results. This issue was solved by splitting the single query into multiple queries and combining them and displaying the final results with correct Ranking.

The pro-rated amount of billable hours was not calculated properly because, the calculation was happening at a row level data. Summarized the data to the highest level possible and passed this data as an input to the new query. Calculated the pro-rated amount on the final query solved the problem.

Developed numerous Impromptu, IWR, Report Studio, Analysis Studio and Drill-through reports and published them to the Portal.

Developed PowerPlay Reports and published them to Upfront for the Finance and other user communities. Very experienced in Cognos PowerPlay Transformer.

Used Framework Manager to create models and publish packages.

Developed a complex report called Weekly Business Report using Report Studio in the Cognos 8 environment for the Sales & Marketing community and published them to the Cognos Connection.

Developed a tool called Model Conversion Utility using Cognos Script that can convert any given transformer model to point the database from Quality to Production or vice-versa.

Successfully completed the testing of Cognos Series 7 reports & cubes and Cognos 8 Reports for the database server move from Anderson to Germany. The usage of Model Conversion Utility for this project was a highlight and has saved considerable man-hours.

Designed and Implemented the Mercury Performance Monitoring PowerCube for the Architecture Group, adhering to all the PowerPlay guidelines of BASF.

Combined Finance Inventory and Product Inventory Trend Cubes into one single cube that not only saved load on the database server but also reduced the cube build times into half.

Played a huge role in the production support of the Cognos BW-Reporting System adhering to the Change Management procedure for all the new requests or enhancements.

Worked on mission critical Financial PowerPlay cubes to support the necessary Year-To-Date time dimension Preventative Maintenance changes every year.

Gathered the report specifications and created the design document for ECO OEM Cube which is the special variation of existing Income Statement cube.

Developed Weekly Gross Sales cube for the Sales and Marketing users that had very complex logic involving a custom created JP Calendar.

Worked on four financial cubes in moving the Currency dimension to Measure folders thereby reducing the cube build times to as little as one fourth.

Followed all the Guidelines from BASF in developing the cubes and reports.
