OBJECTIVE: I am seeking a challenging position as an office or administrative support worker. My expertise for the past 20 years has been in the Mail Services and Customer Service area.

For 17 years was the Mail Services Coordinator at the National Science Teachers Association. For 24 years have been an usher at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

As the Head Usher for the Theater Lab, I was responsible for all aspects of running a live theater:

Supervised between six and nine ushers per performance depending on box office sales.

Held infomation meetings prior to theater opening and prepared theater before seating guests.

Also, assigned usher positions during the meeting.

prepared daily payrolls.

wrote and updated all theater specific guidelines in accordance with Kennedy Cener guidelines.

Scheduled and distributed weekly Usher Work Rosters.

Maintained all ushers contact information.

Scheduled and performed annual and periodic theater training to include:

1.Theater Ticket Takers

2.Theater Accessibility Ushers

3.Theater Emergency Evacuation procedures.

4.General Theater Training

Scheduled all Annual Kennedy Center usher training and orientation to include coordination with the Safety Office, The Accessibility Office, and Kennedy Center Security office.

Reconciled all ushers pay at the end of the week and submitted it to the Theater Manager.

Maintained and affected all disciplinary actions and submitted to appropriate entity when warranted.

Aug 2000 to January 2017 (National Science Teachers Association – Mail Services Coordinator)

Process Daily Postal mail. Upon receipt of USPS mail, sort and place in individual department bins and then delivered to each department. All controlled and courier mail is logged in via scanner and delivered to appropriate departments.

All UPS, FEDEX and courier packages and freight is scanned into tracking system and delivered to appropriate individual and signed for. Assist all staff personnel on the use of UPS and FEDEX machines and advise on best method to send their packages and boxes based on required delivery date.

Coordinated with office furniture supplier to meet with individuals or departments in the procurement of office furniture. Created a Core List of office supplies to be used by staff. This list cut down on staff members ordering more expensive items which saved each department money on their supply budgets.

Coordinate transportation requests for 7 Conferences and any other needed Transportation via courier or freight. Did a cost analysis of Yellow Freight Line. Based on that cost analysis, met with several other freight companies and replaced Yellow Freight with DBA. This change resulted in saving the company over 50% of its transportation budget.

In the realm of Office Automation, convinced the company to invest in a Folder inserter and sealer. With this purchase it cut down the processing time for bi-weekly membership mailings from 6 to two days. This resulted in the elimination of overtime which saved the department over 26% of its operations budget.

Honors and Activities

In the military I received many awards to include the Joint Service Achievement Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (3), Joint Service Commendation Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (3), and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Additionally, I received many Letters of Commendation and Recommendation. After the military I have received monetary awards for performance from the National Research Council and the National Science Teachers Association.
