I am an Iraqi Kurd who is a naturalized US citizen. I’m now living in the United States I have been working as a security officer.

Experience

Security officer, Arizona Western college, Yuma, AZ - August 2016 to March 2019

I was responsible for campus security at Arizona Western College. I supervised students while in the dormitories and in the outdoor quad area. I was responsible for safety checks on all of the buildings to make sure that they were safe and properly maintained. I watched for any contraband or illegal activity coming onto the AWC campus at night. I worked closely with the AWC Police department. I was responsible for managing the office of an English language institute. My duties included student recruitment and registration, finances, budget, graduation ceremonies. Business was conducted in both the Kurdish and English languages. KURDISH LANGUAGE TEACHER, WELLSPRING ACADEMY, SULAIMANIYAH, IRAQ – AUGUST 2012-JUNE 2013.

I was responsible for teaching the local dialect of Kurdish language to middle and high school students, who were mainly English speakers, in a classroom setting. I taught reading, writing, listening, and speaking through the use of songs, games, cooking, field trips to local sites. I was required to have daily lesson plans written and checked by my supervisor.

CHURCH LEADER, LIFE CHURCH, SULAIMANIYAH, IRAQ — MARCH 2006 - AUGUST 2014

I was responsible for weekly church meetings. This included planning and preparing a worship service, including a sermon. I was also in charge of finances, donations, volunteers, and hosting out-of-town groups. I did a considerable amount of translating from Kurdish to English when we hosted group Photojournalist, New Kurdistan newspaper and Chawder newspaper — June 1995-august 2014.

The New Kurdistan Newspaper was published daily and the Chawder newspaper was published weekly. I wrote stories and shot photos every day for 20 years. Both newspapers were published in the Kurdish language. Education

I’m a people person. I speak Kurdish, English, Arabic, Farsi, and Kurmanji and am rapidly improving my English language. I love photography and writing reports to go with my photos. I’m a natural leader, but I’m not afraid to work hard and lead by example. I’m very familiar with Microsoft Word and Powerpoint, and also with Mac IOS applications.
