EXPERIENCE

Role:Junior Research Fellow September 2019 - Present* Employer: The Chennai Mathematical Institute(CMI)

Project:Testing General Relativity of Gravitational Wave Events distribution data - A Study with Signal-to-Noise Ratios

Funded by:The Science and Engineering Research Board(SERB), India. Description:

● Studied the signal-to-noise ratio of gravitational wave events caused due to the collision of Binary Blackholes and Binary Neutron Stars at different redshifts(cosmological distances) and as detected by third-generation gravitational wave detectors

● Numerically simulated the data by taking into consideration of the various physical parameters associated with the sources and the detectors

● The simulated data was then used to test against certain existing analytical models using the Bayesian technique. Parameter estimation was performed using Markov Chain Monte Carlo(MCMC) algorithm to check the validity of general relativity with respect to increasing redshifts.

● It was inferred that the mass distribution of the sources and their distribution across various redshifts led them to experience different physical effects which the models could not account for. Since it was difficult to distinguish between the effects of mass distribution and redshift evolution, it was concluded that such a test is not possible

● Assisting other projects with data preparation and analysis

* Since October 2020 Without pay but continuing the research activities Role:Master's project student (July 2018 - May 2019) Worked under: Dr.Deepak Vaid, NIT Karnataka.

Field:Astroparticle Physics, Neutrino physics & Quantum Field Theory Title of the project:Neutrino Oscillations and A Spin One Half Fermionic Field With Mass Dimension One

Description: This project was mathematically intensive and required a good knowledge of linear algebra.
