The picture to the right you

see top & bottom in-rack

cooling. This accounts for

5KW of cooling per cabinet.

These systems were design

to handle IoT at the Edge

close or underneath a Cell

Towers.

The tray can hold 102 Optical

Cartridges. This is only

possible with advanced

knowledge of sheet metal

tooling and modularity used

throughout the chassis.

Fewer parts redundant tooling

equates to lower costs. DFC

The CRS-3 replaced the CRS-16.

They are essential the same in

functionality but the cost to

manufacture the chassis frame

was the one of the reasons for its

redesign.

I lead a team of Mechanical

Engineers to design this system.

The frame and the base were the

two Items which I didn’t have

much influence on designing.

I designed the Bus Bars, Card

Cage, Fan Trays, PSU Structure,

Midplane Mechanical Layout with

ECAD and the External Cosmetics

for the front, Rear and Sides.

All 3 phases of the Project were

accomplished on time in 2 years

and on budget. The redesigned

CRS-3 system saves Cisco Systems

$14,000 per system.

This system passed all the

compliance tests and Zone 4

Seismic testing.

Discharge - Protected Veteran

CRS-3 Carrier Class Optical Router

I was the Mechanical Design Lead on this project. It was my job to ensure smooth operational understanding of the layout and fixing of modules in space. Conservatively, I designed 60% of this system. Photo Renderings of My Designs using Keyshot
