PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Graduating Master of Science student in materials and metallurgical engineering with extensive hands- on experience in experimental procedure, data analysis, and problem solving. Have advanced knowledge in materials characterization, failure analysis, and surface chemistry. Seeking dynamic role as a materials or metallurgical engineer with a focus on a hands-on industry role. Key skills include:
• Lab methodology • Materials characterization
• Data acquisition and analysis • Technical communication
• Surface analysis techniques • Project management EXPERIENCE
COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES, Golden, CO 5/2019-Current GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCHER
• Develop research scope, timeline, goals, and analysis for project on “Solute and Precipitate Effects on Magnesium Recrystallization” regarding Mg-rare earth alloys.
• Characterized and quantified individual recrystallization mechanisms. Investigated mechanical and microstructural properties that are influenced by recrystallization kinetics. Determined processing parameters to be utilized for industrial benefit. Recommend to industry partners specific thermo-mechanical processing parameters necessary for premium quality standards.
• Wrote two journal papers that are under review by co-authors for publication. Thesis on this project will be complete and defended by September 2021. Report written and presented to research center members tri- annually. Scheduled to attend two conferences to give presentations on this research. COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES, Golden, CO 1/2017-Current TEACHING ASSISTANT
• Taught: Molecular Chemistry (2017-2019), Structure of Materials (2019, Current), Engineered Materials
(2020), Statistical Process Control/Design of Experiments (2020-2021)
• Led laboratory sections through prepared experiments regarding lecture subjects.
• Performed laboratory lectures regarding important laboratory concepts and held office hours.
• Graded and commented on lab write-ups and various assignments. MAG SPECIALTIES INC., Denver, CO 5/2019-8/2019
RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT INTERN
• Worked closely with R&D engineers to complete ongoing data analysis for material evaluation. Redesigned and implemented a database for archived and future data utilizing Python and MATLAB. Generated reports and presentations for quality and technology departments.
• Traveled to production facility in Mexico to develop procedures for short-term production trials and projects. Installed two lab-scale furnaces, grinding stations, and a slow-speed saw during this time. GERDAU SPECIAL STEEL NORTH AMERICA, Monroe, MI 5/2018-8/2018 MELT SHOP PROCESS ENGINEERING INTERN
• Worked at the special steel producing mill. Ensured all processing of safety critical parts complied with standards. Monitored all processes through acquisition of quality data, then analyzed and modeled processes for future materials and products.
• Independently led a project to stabilize temperature issues at the ladle metallurgy furnace (LMF) and resulting down-time of the melt shop. When complete, 40% less downtime resulted during operation time. COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES, Golden, CO 1/2017-6/2019 UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOW
• Researched project on “Twin Boundary Mobility in Shape Memory Alloys: A Feasibility Study with Internal Friction”, funded by the Center for Advanced Non-Ferrous Structural Alloys and the National Science Foundation program.
• Trained on new instrumentation, techniques, and lab procedures. Presented results to center partners tri- annually.
• Installed and calibrated an internal friction machine, then trained over a dozen researchers on use of the instrument.
COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES RESIDENCE LIFE 6/2017-6/2018 RESIDENT ASSISTANT
• Fostered community development and leadership while promoting a safe and academically focused environment by putting on community building and educational programs.
• Served on a 24-hour response rotation and oversaw 195 residents. Responded to all calls, including small issues to crisis intervention.
PART TIME JOB, INDEPENDENT FAMILIES 6/2017-Current CHILDCARE NANNY
• Cared for children age 6 months-15 years. Worked for 6+ families on semester/summer contracts during school. Worked personal assistant tasks, including scheduling appointments, shopping, and cooking. EDUCATION
