SUMMARY STATEMENT

My name is Lena Melton Nunez and I graduated from the University of New Orleans in May 2017 and received my Master of Arts degree in English Literature with a concentration in African American Literature. From August 2017, I worked as an English tutor at Delgado Community College at the West Bank Campus. I began teaching English 101 & 102 as an English Adjunct Faculty member in August 2019. My focus and expertise in helping as a tutor has been extremely beneficial in learning how to teach a diverse subset of students. Delgado Community College gave me the opportunity to work with students who range from the ages of 16-70 and have diverse backgrounds from New Orleans’ own lower ninth ward to the small town of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with students who have special needs. I had the pleasure of teaching at Delgado until Spring 2020. After the COVID-19 Pandemic, I began teaching English 101 at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond in the Fall of 2020. During this time, I also taught English 101 and 102 at Upper Iowa University located at Jackson Barracks. I am continuing my career in shaping young minds to encourage a love for the English language and for English Literature. I am currently set to teach African American Literature at Upper Iowa University for the Summer 2021 session.
