I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts Social sciences from Makerere University, Kampala. I have three years of professional experience working in civil society organisation and other government entities. I am a graduate fellow with Building Tomorrow Uganda an organisation that supports quality and inclusive education; I have worked with World Vision Uganda, western region on a youth skills development project. I have also worked with School of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University on addressing Gender based violence concerns specifically sexual harassment. I have research and data collection experience working with Hatchile Consult Limited. Specific areas of expertise include youth, politics, children, education, local governance and service delivery, community mobilization, counselling and psychosocial support.

WORK EXPERIENCE

0ctober 2020-To- Date: Students Coach at Kicking Sexual Harassment out of Higher Education Institutions (KISH) Project- School of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University.

Roles and Responsibilities,

Providing a safe space for female students for training on, prevention, response and reporting systems for sexual Harassment. Equipping students with life skills, so as to make positive choices despite of life challenging situations, Sexual and Reproductive Health Information for the young people to make informed decisons on their sexual and Reproductive Health rights.

Use of virtual meeting systems like zoom, Google meet, whatsaspp among other digital platforms in project implementation

Timely reporting on weekly and monthly basis, documenting success stories and challenges and continuous monitoring and evaluation.

Achievement: Working with a team of 14 coaches, 200 students have been trained, who are currently active change agents in their community in addressing the evil of sexual harassment, supporting their fellow students in becoming active bystanders and breaking the silence by speaking up,

January 2020- March 2020: Part time Life skills trainer with World Vision Uganda

I trained eighty adolescents, young mothers In Kamwenge District, Busiriba kahunge sub-counties, life skills to enable young people respond positively to life challenging situations, hands on Skilling in making reusable pads, art and crafts, paper bags, VSLA group training and formations addressing unemployment concerns among youth to curb down poverty, providing sexual reproductive health information for the young people to make informed decisions on matters their sexual and reproductive rights.

Achievement: 95 Percent of the participants started up VSLA groups meetings of weekly, carrying on enterprise development in making reusable pads, art and craft, small agriculture based intiatives which they use for income generation and tapping into the locally available material for employment.

January 2018 To 2019 November: Fellow (Based in Kiboga District) - with Building Tomorrow, an organization that supports undeserved children of rural Uganda, by building schools and improving the quality of education, Working in a team of 50 youths of different professionals to solve challenges in Education).

Responsibilities: I serve in four public primary schools Kiboga district

While in the schools I did capacity building of head teachers and teachers to creating a safe and child friendly school environment. I conducted child protection trainings targeting all school stakeholders so as to reduce risks, prevent and respond to child protection concerns such as child neglect, abuse and exploitation. I worked hand in hand with all school stakeholders ie Head teacher, teachers, parents, children, District officials, community education volunteers, local councilors to support the thriving school program and child protection matters.

Worked closely with the school management committee and build their capacity in school governance and management so as to effectively carry out their responsibilities through putting emphasis on inclusive education, child protection, Water, sanitation and hygiene among others in school development planning and budget designs and implementation

I formed clubs for support to children like girls club, child rights club, life skills club, WASH club that provided mentorship to children and thus providing support to children who were at risk of dropping out to keep in school

Enrolled back out of school children back to school and worked closely with the community Education volunteers in the process to support the thriving school program. I Sensitized community members on the role of education and their contribution to the school development (I sensitized over 15 local council team members 20 members of the village health team and school management committees on WASH ie Water, sanitation and hygiene and over 200 students parents)

•Sensitizing communities on financial empowerment, forming village saving schemes and identifying income generating projects, use of locally available materials to make different products for sell

•Recruiting thirty-two community education volunteers who are part of the community members training child protection, water sanitation and hygiene, inclusive educations and together we would serve the communities.

•Breaking negative gender stereotypes that limit a girls potential through carrying out sensitizations in parents meetings on girl child educations, using drama and extra co-curricular activities like girls football tournaments, chess competition, life skills trainings

Achievements: Enrollment in schools of operation increased, increase in parents engagement and support for girl child education,Head Teachers and teacher’s SMC, leadership skills improved and the staff developed a growth mind-set and support for child friendly school environment, youth were encouraged to engage in community activities, and enterprise development my leadership, mobilization, problem solving skills improved, learnt art of working in teams and diverse professionals.

RESEARCH ASSIGNMENTS ACCOMPOLISHED

5th December to 20th December 2020: Research Assistant with Hatchile Consult Limited in a survey on social services delivery by the government being attached in Kasese, Bundibungyo, Kabarole under urban and rural centres. The method of use of questionnaires, interviewing respondents by random sampling at in the EA by giving both genders an equal chance to participate in the survey.

In October 24 to 3rd 2020: Research assistant on the survey on market vending that is market, street and hawking levels in Greater Kampala Metropolitan areas. This by studying on gaps, policy, trade unions, effects of the pandemic to the business among others. Methods used were questionnaire tools, interviewing respondents and systematic random sampling giving both genders an equal chance to participate in the survey.

VOLUTEERING AND INTERNSHIP ACTIVITIES

2018: Volunteer Trainer at Usikate Tamma Uganda where I taught women and girls hands on skills like baking, jewellery making, soap making together we formed savings groups where they would save money in order to start up their own businesses, and fight poverty
