November 2018 to December 2020: Operation Stand Down Nashville

Supportive Services Manager responsible for supervising 12 employees and administrating the provision of the professional social services to veteran clients: supervision of staff members: the administration of all operational aspects (program, grant and budget of the agency’s Case Management, Housing Temporary Financial Assistance (TFA), and Welcome Center services; and the coordination of those services in conjunction with agency and community services and resources.

January 2009 to Present: Knoxville Area Veterans Stand Down

CEO, 501c3 non-profit provides goods and services to Veterans in the state of Tennessee. Plan and executed yearly and quarterly Stand Downs to provide assistance with employment, housing, legal, counseling, referrals to the Veteran Administration and numerous Veteran Organization

November 2005-November 2018: Volunteers of America Mid-States

Senior Program Manager: for Veteran Services in TN. The three projects are funded by Department of Labor. Supervise 12 employees, Social Work interns and as well as managing my own program Supportive Services for Veterans and Families, which provide housing assistance to Veterans and their Families. I also supervise two Homeless Veterans Programs, one located in Johnson City and Chattanooga, TN. Complete successive outreach, evaluation and assessment of veterans to break down barriers to employment in a thirteen county region in east TN. I am a Baccalaureate Social Worker; provide case management and counseling for veterans regarding a wide range of physical, mental, and social disabilities. Developed and delivered pre-employment job training and perform follow-up with veterans and employers. Market all programs to employers. Review files, reports and submit monthly, quarterly and yearly progress and financial reports to the Department of Labor, Veterans Administration, and Volunteers of America Mid-States. Offer compassion, understanding, and empathy integrated with advice and concrete options that empower and motivate veterans to choose courses of action as appropriate to obtain training, employment. Utilize multiple online tools to counsel veterans on sources for employment and training. Work collaboratively with Veterans Administration, veteran organizations, state and local employment offices, DVOP/LVER staff, education/training professionals, and social service agencies within Eastern Tennessee including the Knoxville area. I have developed excellent contacts with a great number of non-profits, as well as government agencies in Eastern and Central Tennessee to assist Volunteers of America Mid-States with carrying out the requirements of this and other grants in Eastern Tennessee. Section 8 Housing inspector, was promoted to Manager, Elderly Housing, for HUD Housing and Urban Development/Farmers Home Administration.

August 2002 – January 2003: Paradise Plastics

Warehouse supervisor, managed daily operations. Charged with property and inventory management, heavy freight transportation, maintained inventory of supplies required to perform daily operations. I supervised 10 employees.

1980- 2002 U.S. Coast Guard:

Retired as a Contracting Officer, Senior Non-Commission Officer specializing in procurement and distribution of a wide range of supplies. Demonstrated superior organizational abilities and possess a proven aptitude for finance, accounting and disaster response. In charge of property and inventory management, travel, heavy freight transportation, purchasing, and command and control of various supply chains. I Supervised a budget of $1,000,000 for each deployment. I supervised 40 members of the U. S. Coast Guard. Developed, and held training in disaster response, procurement, acquisition, property control, inventory, hazardous material handling and storage. Started and managed a hazardous material distribution center, first responder for U.S. C.G. Disaster Strike Team. I was nominated for Coast Guardsmen of the year in 1998.
