This has paved the way for me to reflect upon different ways of life and fully engage myself in other languages and cultures and had exposure on many different levels including design of various building types [Cultural, Industrial, Residential, Educational, Commercial buildings], the supervision of construction, contract management and other administrative works inherent in the practice of architecture. WORK HISTORY:
Interned at BEGLIN WOODS ARCHITECTS LIMITED as part of the design team on various projects, working under the direction of the senior Architect working closely with the design team in developing concepts and preparing scheme design drawings and details. An eye opener to the importance of teamwork, punctuality and relationship between architects and the clients, methods of constructions techniques, customer service skills, picked up new Office skills and responsibility and an important introduction to professional project development process I also interned with MULJI DEVRAJ AND BROTHERS LIMITED in Mombasa, Kenya at a residential apartment project in the Nyali area of Mombasa, as part of the site team assisting on management of site affairs, Coordination with allied professionals, Management of site communication, inspections, reporting, meetings and other related activities and Construction supervision. Attained local experience, understood local problems regarding construction and interacted with the workers on site. I supervised the workers and learnt how to motivate them and work with them effectively. I attained the construction site understanding, resource and site management, further understanding of the site- design studio relationship and gained self- confidence development.
I then worked at SEZYUM ARCHITECTS, an architectural firm in Izmir, Turkey and joined the design team under the senior architects and gained the experience in design work of several challenging projects in Izmir, Turkey e.g.: The Gediz University Faculty of Architecture building, Alfemo factory prayer hall and ablution area for the capacity of 200 people and the design of the main entrance to an educational centre in Izmir, Turkey. I also experienced the different methods of constructions used in Turkey and how it can greatly assist our local construction skills. I further gained self-management, improved office etiquette and communication and learnt project development and team work as well as architectural economics and financing. Participating in production of tender documents and analysis of tenders. In 2017, after graduation from my Master’s degree, I joined TWOARCHITECTS in Mombasa, Kenya and worked under the direction of a senior architect where I was part of the design team developing concepts and preparing scheme design drawings and details for residential and mixed- use projects. Here I gained the exposure to handle projects from inception stage to client’s briefings and City approvals.
I am currently working at QUESTAFRICA LIMITED in Kigali, Rwanda as a design architect. My job description here is development of design concepts through to production of scheme design and working drawings. Coordinate with allied professions in the development of design and production of drawings. Manage site affairs including coordination of allied professions, management of site communication, inspections, reporting, meetings and other related activities. Kigali Logistics Platform (KLP) is an inland dry port in Masaka, Kigali. It was initially phased into two, Phase 1, 25 Ha and Phase 2 at 35 Ha. Phase one was completed and officially handed over to Dubai Ports World in April 2019, 2 years since the ground breaking ceremony. The project was initially planned to be completed in January 2018 but had been delayed due to several factors during construction and design Phase. It was a design and build project with the design team employed by the Main contractor, Horizon Construction Ltd as the main Consultants of the project. The design had to go through several verifiers, an internal Design Verifier, the clients’ Design Verifier and an Independent Design Verifier. Position held & Main

KIGALI GOLF CLUB HOUSE is a project in the heart of Kigali. It comprises of a number of blocks offering various leisure services and accommodation plus a swimming pool. Located in Nyarutarama, at the Kigali Golf Club Course, the project began in the year 2015 and was halted before completion. Much of the work that if left has to do with mechanical and electrical installation and correction as well as applying final finishes to the buildings. In 2017, the works resumed and the clubhouse and its affiliated amenities were open to the public. These included a club house, health centre, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and changing rooms and washrooms. In 2019, the Kigali Golf Club embarked on another expansion project of the course and upgrading it to an all 18-hole course with extra amenities such as halfway house for the golfers to take a rest midway, a proper caddy shed and a starter’s hut. The client tasked us to design the interiors of each unit and manage the project to completion. Therefore, procurement of each and every finishing material, furniture as well as exterior finishes fell upon the design team. The challenge was to have the materials locally sourced within a very short period of time since the client wished for the project to be completed in a very short period of 6 months. Construction began in 2015 and was halted for some period. In 2018, the client wanted a valuation of the project and how best to continue. After valuation of the works done and having an idea of how much work is outstanding, we presented the client with our findings. Currently, the construction is ongoing and we as the consultants. The amenities within the site include, a club house and swimming pool adjacent to it. A tender was floated and we bid for the work. A consortium was formed and a joint bid was raised. It consists of the construction of 5300 units within nine identified sites in Nairobi. There are basically three types of blocks of 5-storeys namely studio apartment, 2-bedroom apartments and 3-bedroom apartments. The units will be developed in a singular phase being part of a large program. The process of developing the Concept for the Usalama Housing Project was broken into three levels, Unit level, Block level and Masterplan level. The keywords while designing included: Affordability, Flexibility, Aesthetics, Sustainability, Material Choice, Accessibility, Courtyard, Security and Privacy

The proposed plot is situated at Free zone in Kigali city. This proposal focuses on the Office block which is the first phase of works to be undertaken. As a design team, we recognized that “sustainability” is one of the core values of Horizon, the Office building and its general functionality/ operation should be designed while paying much-needed attention to “Green Architecture”. In our approach, we explore and optimize various passive design strategies and prioritize the use of locally available materials. Of great consideration are also other factors such as; 1. Bakhresa Grain Milling (Rwanda) Limited which is an associate company of Bakhresa group of companies was incorporated in Rwanda on 20th January, 2009 with the objective to carry out wheat milling operations in Kigali. Upon receiving approval from Rwanda Development Board on the 4th March 2009, the company went ahead to acquire land in Nyagahinga cell, Rusororo, Gasabo district in Kigali
The project consists of Silos (3 built and 4 currently ongoing), an administration block, truck parking and loading bays, Raw materials Warehouses, Finished goods warehouses and the milling factory
