*Who I Am*

First and foremost, I am a problem solver who accomplishes employer objectives through intelligence, adaptability, communication skills, positivity, and dedication. As a technical writer my focus is informative writing that empowers readers by enabling them to better use products and services.

B.S. in Mathematics/Statistics, Wright State University. I’m able by training and inclination to evaluate problems in terms of hard data, to seek correlations and try to determine if they indicate causation, and to design procedures to test potential solutions.

Minor in Economics. (Including Coursework in Econometrics) My specific math focus was applying mathematical thinking to questions of business operation and resource allocation.

Census Enumeration: In September and October, I worked part-time for the US Census helping find and count those who hadn’t yet done their Census survey. The Census was extra chaotic this year between interference from Covid at the beginning and the courts at the end; Much of the time I was my own supervisor.

Multi-role Serving: I was a utility employee at both Doubleday’s and Max & Ermas. In addition to serving and bartending, I also worked shifts hosting, dishwashing, cooking (pantry station), and expediting. Doubleday’s also expects more from their servers, so light food-prep, assisting with expediting, and taking carryout orders were expected as part of routine serving duties there.

Parenting: Two kids, an intelligent and headstrong daughter, 6 and a son with some development issues, 2, are a constent joy and equally constant challenge.

Author: Since leaving Doubleday’s, I have been working on my writing career and currently have two children’s books in submission.

Ohio Math Teaching Certificate (2011): Completed an alternative licensing program from State of Ohio for certification to teach mathematics grades 7-12. Although the certification has lapsed, I retain the lessons on teaching and communicating processes.

Training Server: At Doubleday’s I often served as a Server Trainer, explaining to new hires what Doubleday’s expected of servers and teaching them how to fulfill those expectations. I was also required to perform written evaluations of the trainees and forecast how well they would work out.

Positivity * Acceptance

Generating Clientele: Doubleday’s strives for the Cheers ‘where everybody knows your name’ vibe, based longevity of staff and regularity of customers. I had several request customers who asked to sit in my section, and the sort of warm relationships that extended to off-duty interactions, thereby contributing to growth of business.

Faith: I’ve been attending Fairhaven, a local CMA church, for over 25 years as it has grown into a multi-campus mega-church. Admittedly, theologies are as unique as the individuals who hold them, but my brand of faith emphasizes acceptance of others and forgiveness for their imperfections, helping others better themselves, and proactively choosing hope over despair.

Doubleday’s longevity: Doubleday’s had a better employee retention rate then the restaurant industry standard. Nevertheless, I had the longest continuous serving position by 2011, working there almost 20 years in total.
