HVAC Mechanical and Building Automation Controls

Design Build Commissioning Service Energy Efficiency Houston, Texas: 832-***-****: adlt3n@r.postjobfree.com My focus is design, build, service, retro commission, optimize, measure & verify HVAC utility use conservation, and developing solution selections based on best case payback for energy and water efficiency scopes of work. My experience includes working on design charrettes for new whole building net zero target facilities. I was very successful at winning in this environment because of the technical collaboration with the mechanical engineers, energy modelers, and commissioning agents I worked with.

An additional win was over 2,000,000 square feet of retro-commissioning sold to the State of California and the County of Los Angeles with the same team of innovative thinkers. Important in my learning curve while working in the mechanical engineering and commissioning business was real-time weather normalized utility use modeling, benchmarking, and measuring for savings verification along with continuous commissioning for energy conservation measure opportunity identification. As a result of our M&V efforts the County was able to finance the scope of work to go from $1.00 per square foot, to

$1.60 per square feet. In addition, fees for engineering and commissioning these energy conservation measures was issued. The mechanical and controls scopes of work included the retrofit of large hot water pumping stations and a new control system.

These type of results in varying degrees were happening with the commercial property owners in San Diego, while we were introducing M&V in early 2000’s.

Innovative energy conservation engineering value add project delivery using existing asset repurposing, deferred maintenance, advanced operational controls, supply-demand chilled water algorithms, and continuous commissioning enabled me to sell the first LEED M&V certification on a military base. We developed the modeling, benchmarking, and real-time weatherization, to validate energy conservation measures in order to create a continual stream of service and project revenue. The success in energy conservation measure for best case payback is a result of researching and assembling new and creative technical solutions, their financial payback, sustainability, and the associated competitive marketplace research to develop new offerings and programs to be vetted and selected in team environments. I look forward to learning more about your team and their goals so that we may discuss developing systems to execute on those opportunities as efficiently and effectively as possible. Steven Kaplan
