Substitute Teacher (Part time as needed)
Employed as a Substitute Teacher on an as needed bases with the Baldwin County Schools (2018-2021).
I filled in for teachers who were absent from the classroom and carried out their teaching duties. With few exceptions, I worked in different schools when I received a job call. I left this position for various reasons including traveling 25 to 50 miles to and from the job sites, working in different locations, and my desire to pursue an on-line teaching position.
Special Education Teacher
Employed as a Special Education teacher at Hankins Middle School, (1992 to 2016) and at Chastang Middle School (1989-1992).
As a special education teacher at Hankins, I taught pupils in grades 6, 7, and 8. My duties include teaching and managing the educational program for special needs students. Providing educational services to pupils in a classroom, as well as an inclusion classroom setting. Developing and implementing student IEP programs, behavior plans, and FBA plans as needed. I also provided maintenance and monitoring of special education student records. These included both computer-based documents and paper-based files. I also used SETS (special education computer software) to prepare IEP forms and other documents.
Additional Duties:
I also taught social studies to special education students at the school.
In past several years, have assisted, as needed, the school in various computer technology areas, these duties have included over the years, the following tasks: Developing scores of school based forms and documents; Developing the school handbook; Working with the Journalism teacher to design and develop a school based newspaper; Developed a Web site for the school and have developed a few other Web sites; Troubleshooting and operating the school based camera surveillance system; Troubleshooting computer software and hardware problems; Troubleshooting printer software and hardware problems; Troubleshooting network workstation problems; Imputing student data into SETS and STI PD software; Training, using, and troubleshooting the various SET classroom module software; and Setting up computer hardware workstations.
From 1989-1992, I was assigned as a Special Education teacher in the area of Learning Disabilities at Chastang Middle School, Mobile, Alabama. At Chastang Middle School, I provided instruction to pupils in grades 6, 7, and 8. I worked with other teachers, as well as parents, in developing educational plans (IEPs), instructional programs and other services for students. Additionally, I provided maintenance and monitoring of special education student files as needed.
Graduate Study, The University of South Alabama
Entered a full-time graduate studies program in the University's College of Education. As a student, I studied Special Education and specialized in Learning Disabilities. From December 1988 until June 1989 taught Special Education at Phoenix High School, Carlisle, Louisiana (Placquemines Parish Schools) on an interim basis.
Insurance Inspector
Employed as a self-employed insurance inspector (independent contractor) and represented the following companies: Hooper Holmes, Inc., Property Reports, Inc., Equifax, Inc., and U.S.I., Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia (1981-1985) and Mobile, Alabama (1985-1987). The duties required; interviewing applicants for insurance, inspecting residential and commercial structures, conducting FEMA flood control inspections, and completing other reports.
Life Insurance Salesman
Employed as an insurance agent (1979-1981) to sell and service life, automobile, and health insurance policies for the Prudential Insurance Company, Youngstown, Ohio (1979-1980) and Life of Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia (1980-1981).
Real Estate Agent
I was a real estate salesman (1975-1979) and worked for David Realty and Krieder Company Realty in Youngstown, Ohio as an independent contractor.
Substitute Teacher
Employed as a substitute teacher (1970-1975), in a surplus market, to performed various teaching assignments on a temporary and part time basis. Taught a variety of subjects in middle and high schools. During the 1972-1973 school year, worked full time as an instructor in a self contained TMR special education classroom environment. Provided instruction to youngsters, ages 12 to 16, at the Leonard Kirtz School, Youngstown, Ohio on a temporary one-year assignment.
Social Studies Teacher
Employed (1968-1970) to teach secondary social studies world history and world geography to students enrolled in a regular education program in grades 10, 11, and 12 at South High School, Youngstown, Ohio.
