My duties and responsibility for Schindler included the monitoring of the cost of production for thousands of component parts of an escalator and calculation of the final cost of these parts making up a complete escalator unit to come up with the full cost of each unit. I set and annually reviewed cost standards such as labor, facility and overhead. I posted entries into the SAP financial package and ran monthly financial reports for two plant managers and seven section leaders. I also was responsible for warranty reporting and closely worked with engineers as they performed engineering reviews and worked up quotes.

The cost accountant position at Randa was developed to revise the gross profit margin method it used for decades for its P&Ls. Over time, I revised the manual cost sheets and developed a computer program to track each product style’s total cost broken down by the individual components making up the total cost (i.e. – piece goods, cut/make/trim and packaging, etc.). In addition, I assisted in the planning and implementation of various inventory control programs incorporated on Randa’s AS400 computer along with establishing internal auditing procedures to monitor performance.
