RVSC is a Department of Science & Technology (DST) Global Change Flagship Centre that has been mandated to enhance coping and adaptation capacities by improving scientific understanding and developing technologies, innovations to respond to respond to challenges induced by global change by strengthening the science-policy-practice interface. The Centre aims to accomplish this by providing objectively informed policy recommendations and lasting solutions that strengthen the responsiveness of local and provincial intervention programmes to challenges associated with global change in South Africa especially in the Eastern Cape, which is one of the poorest and most vulnerable provinces in the country.
