Duties and accomplishments At CGTC:
Working mostly independently review, evaluate, and develop and/or modify training materials, instructional lesson plans, student handouts, practical demonstrations, written examinations/tests, and work projects. Evaluate variety of audiovisual/instructional aids and presentation media to enhance learning. Review web-based on-line application for tests, presentations, student materials, and assignments to reduce cost. Perform job/task analysis to determine training prerequisites, training standards, and instructional needs. Recommend improvements to presentation and training methods.
Research and identify applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American Welding Society (AWS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and related safety procedures and national standards to ensure currency and accuracy of instructional content. Update/revise instructional materials to meet changes in standards.
Apply the principles of instruction for delivering technical subject matter material. Conduct formal and informal classroom instruction on a variety of technical and non-technical subjects related to industrial operations, metal fabrication, and welding; fundamental principles and theories, standard codes and symbols, shop safety practices, hand tool and power machine operation procedures and measurements, and techniques in metal forming and welding.
Perform practical demonstrations on proper techniques and procedures for subject areas taught. Providing task demonstrations with student practice and evaluate students’ ability to meet practical exercise requirements. Assign practical demonstration and conduct final project evaluation verifying compliance with national standards.
Work directly with students to determine career potential, prerequisite training/skill requirements, qualifications and certification eligibility in industrial trades of welding and fabrication. Keep welding shop inventory up to date.
Supervise and coordinate the welding instructors for the main campus and four satellite campuses. Coordinate day and night instructors for all campus.
Order all consumable supplies, machinery, metals and material for classes on each campus.
Scheduled routine maintenance for welding machines and all other equipment.
