KEY DUTIES:
Ensuring the SHE systems is compliant to the owner, third party, legislation, policies, best practices, and own company specifications,
Implement a risk assessment process
Conduct hazard identification by observing processes, discussing it with the relevant supervisors, team members and safety reps

Implement and maintain a risk assessment register. Rank and determent the most hazardous tasks being performed Implements and facilitate in developing SOP’s (Safe Operating Procedure) JSA’s (Job Safety Analyses) and SWP’s (Safe Work Plans).
Progressive review risk assessments during various phases of project (e.g. Baseline, issue base, continuous risk assessments etc),
Administrate and review the Project HSE plan regularly, to ensure that the HSE plan is kept up to date. Scrutinise and undertake improvement to the HSE management systems where required. Plan, organise and conduct HSE monthly / quarterly / annual HSE audits. Liaise and facilitate audits by independent parties (NOSA, IRCA, DECRA)
Take a leading role in monthly / periodical / annual HSE audits and daily site inspections. Evaluate the audit reports, compile and implement action plan to ensure continuous improvement. Coordinate and lead weekly management site walks
Implement Legislative appointments as per Act requirements. Advice the Site manager on SHE related issues.
Establish and maintain behavioural based SHE programme. Introduce and drive a visible management programme Report all Accidents and Incidents and significant near misses to relevant stakeholders. Tracks accidents/incidents and Near Miss/Hazardous occurrences, making this a priority focus on leading indicators.
Participates in accident / incident / near miss investigations, ensures that root causes are identified, and corrective actions are taken.
Ensure an action tracking log is kept and maintained. Assessing effectiveness of working practices and HSE systems with the view to continuously improve on matters
Provide guidance and support to line management and contractors in the project with regard to corporate SHE standards, policies and legislation requirements. Take a leading role to identify best HSE/SHE practices Implement H&S improvement initiatives

Liaise with the client, neighbours and contractors on all SHE related issues. Introducing SHE competitions and incentive schemes Scrutinise and approve the SHE files for subcontractors Do site establishment for shutdown.
