TJMAXX DISTRIBUTION CENTER, Pittston, PA 10/2017-10/2018

Area Operations Manager/DC Operations Supervisor

Started with the company managing layup dock functions and a team of 16 associates. Partner with receiving to ensure proper mix of product. By managing shelves, determine what area of the building to send merchandise. Partner with merchandise control on vendor compliance issues. Forecast daily layup goal, based on weekly goal, week to date volume and number of shifts left.

Developed a new process for our LUD1 area to better process UPS/Fed Ex and stray freight as this has always been an issue keeping up with in the past. Partnering with my counterparts on the other shifts as well as the AOMs and AGM, I was able to put together a more efficient workflow that leaves us with no old dates. All stray freight is resolved daily. Because of this process improvement, compared with LY overall associate ES performance is up from 114% LY to 131% YTD. Also indirect time is down compared to LY, 40% LY vs. 38% YTD.

Transitioned into a role that manages the Pyramid sorter system which is the core of our building and when run properly dictates our buildings volume, selection and OPH. Managed a team of 21 inductors as well as 8 central tote associates all while monitoring and problem solving our sorter downtime, recirculation rates, divert failures, maintenance issues and associate productivity.

Created IDP for associates looking to enter the supervisor development program. Successfully worked with 2 general warehouse associates and built development plans tailored to their specific needs and aspirations. Worked on getting them exposure and more leadership opportunities so when the time comes to apply for the SDP program they are set up for success. This IDP template and my development plans were later shared throughout the TJMaxx network and used as a tool to develop associates who want to go further with their career but need guidance to get to that next level.

Also mentored and helped with development of supervisors on the shift. Although they are peers, I am seen as a leader in the building and want to do whatever I can to develop talent when the initiative to grow is apparent.

Look for opportunities within the building i.e. space not being utilized, processes that may need improvements, etc. to optimize our efficiency as a building and trying to think outside of the box.
