I assisted with closing the books via Workday which caused me to learn a new system.

I took over the accounting in Quickbooks for a subsidiary as the subsidiary utilized an outside accounting firm.

I was asked to work with foreign and local entities ensuring that entries done by sub-entities were captured correctly and were encapsulated on both sides.

Morgan Franklin Consulting (MF), McLean, VA August 2018 – March 2020

Financial Manager

Morgan Franklin is a management and technology consulting firm that works with leading businesses and governments to strengthen finance, technology, and business development capabilities.

●I was the secretary of the Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) committee while I helped develop and implement training to customer groups while sourcing new business.

●My clients included Ankura (a start-up consulting firm that focuses on industries from Aerospace & Defense to Telecommunications), Lockheed Martin (a $6.2B government contract company), Branch (a start-up that increases mobile revenue with enterprise-grade links built to acquire, engage, and measure across all devices and platforms), and Avenu (a provider of revenue enhancement, technology, and consulting services for government agencies) where I was tasked to help with business enhancements and audit readiness.

●Avenu acquired part of Conduent which tripled Avenu’s size. Due to my knowledge of the Client’s work and ability to anticipate my client’s needs, MF became 1 of only 2 consulting firms used.

Leidos, (Contract), Reston, VA June 2016 – April 2018

Financial Consultant

Leidos is a government contractor that specializes in innovative engineering solutions for civil, defense, and intelligence organizations.

●I supported the financial integration process of a $4.6 billion merger and acquisition of Lockheed Martin businesses that doubled the size of the company; I helped ensure all the merger elements were accounted for and identified.

●I assured Leidos complied with ASC 606 while reporting successes or failures of the merged company. I was extended from 1 year to 2 years due to my work ethic, contagious positive attitude, eagle-eye, and ability to exceed requirements.

●I prepared and reviewed monthly, 10Q, and 10K financial submissions to ensure their accuracy and compliance with GAAP for the new consolidated financial statements.

Fundation Group, Reston, VA October 2014 – May 2016

Controller

Fundation is an online lender that helps small businesses quickly obtain the credit they need so they can continue to grow.

●I re-engineered the accounting department for the start-up by implementing all new accounting policies, enhanced the general ledger, and maintained sound financial controls according to GAAP. I ensured the new start-up did not get fined by any Accounting authority based on accounting practices. I also directed the full complement of accounting practices.

●I implemented a new expense and travel system utilizing Concur along with the design and implementation of the expense and travel policy, ensuring proper coding of expenses.

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU), Vienna, VA March 2008 – September 2014

Assistant Vice President, Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy

NFCU is the world’s largest credit union, with over 9 million members, serving the military and their families for over 70 years.

●I built an exceptional accounting department by recruiting top performers in the area, who grew to become award-winning managers under my guidance and leadership.

●I created and led the Accounting Policy group who administered policies to ensure that NFCU complied with all regulatory and accounting guidance according to GAAP.

●I was in charge of the accounting for loan modifications. Indirectly, following the guidance in ASC 326, eventually increased income for the credit union and allowed NFCU to offer reduced loan interest rates to its members. My group researched and implemented a loan modification accounting software system to replace a third-party tool that was able to account for all types of loan modifications as well as mergers and acquisitions ensuring automated efficiencies existed between loan modifications and merged loans which saved NFCU time and money.

●Utilizing reports provided by my team, the board of directors was able to decide on the company's future financial, regulatory, and statistical performance including monthly consolidated and department level financial trends. I reviewed and presented NFCU’s quarterly call reports that were submitted to our regulator, the National Credit Union Association (NCUA), adhering to all GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Interim Vice President of Accounting

●I led the monthly close-the-books process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting for the CFO and the Board of Directors. This provided senior leadership strategic direction as well as daily insight to ensure the credit union’s profitability.
