Management and oversight of the clinical operations for 13 Physicians and 11 Advanced Practice Providers, including Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. Direct reports consist of; 12 Cardiac Device Technicians, 15 Medical Assistants, 11 Registered Nurses, and six Surgery Schedulers. Responsible for staffing and managing clinic operations for four full time TCA offices based in Austin, Texas and ten rotating satellite locations on a weekly basis. Additional Roles:

Completion of employee and patient event tracking, Kronos, staffing, and quarterly attendance to HCA Physician Group Services Electrophysiology Governance Meetings – Performs annual reviews, hiring, and disciplinary action for all direct reports. Establishes teamwork and implements training expectations. Personally covers nursing shifts as needed within the clinic.

Implementation of Murj – software based platform for the TCA Device Clinic – Vetted multiple companies to evaluate with leadership which remote device platform and software would be the best fit for TCA as a pilot program. Murj was implemented in August 2019. Approximately 9,000 devices were brought onto the platform. Twelve Device Team members managed these devices in a combination of remote and in office positions. Evaluation of the pilot program in August of 2020 demonstrated:

o Approximately 12,000 devices on the platform

o 13 Device Staff members–Net one additional staff member – Staff member is also shared with the MRI program o 54% increase in devices checked by staff members due to increased efficiency from the platform o 44% increase in collections from 2019 to 2020 - RVU / Revenue

Expedited Implementation of Telemedicine – Telemedicine pilots were slowly implemented prior to the COVID-19 pandemic with our clinical outreach locations. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we were able to quickly transition our local and outreach locations into clinics that have been 100% in office visits to a 60% Telemedicine / 40% In office visit setting. Successful implementation of Hospital Electrophysiology Telemedicine Consult coverage in a pilot program testing efficiency and frequency of Telemedicine visits within the Emergency Room, Telemetry Units, and CVIC Units.

Boston Scientific Watchman Device Program – TCA currently performs the highest number of Watchman implants worldwide. Refinement of our program included facilitating insurance protocols to ensure CMS and private payer coverage. Created workflows to ensure our physicians and patients meet criteria mandated by CMS. Collaboration with Internal Medicine Hospitalists to participate in our program. Created Left Atrial Appendage office note templates in EPIC to ensure our office notes included all details needed from a LAAO registry standpoint as well CMS criteria. Creation of a full time Watchman Educator (RN) role. Currently piloting the Boston Scientific Hawkeye platform which will help TCA secure all required follow up care coordination post LAAO implant (Two years of data per patient).

Abbott – Insight Engine Pilot Program – Monthly collaboration with HCA/PSG Heart Failure specialists as well as an Abbott Heart Failure Project Consultant to research current patients within our Merlin community with a goal of identifying patients that may be appropriate for a Heart Failure consultation and / or an Electrophysiology appointment based on diagnostic trends seen within Merlin and the Insight Engine.

St. David’s Medical Center EP Pathways Program - Weekly partnership with key members at St. David’s Medical Center with the goal of creating collaboration between Hospitalists and Electrophysiology providers to ensure patient follow up follow through post discharge. Helped create an In Patient referral system which initiates an order via Meditech to our office. Meditech orders created include In Patient EP consultation orders as well as post discharge office visit orders.

St. David’s Medical Center – Cardiac MRI for patients with a MRI conditional or MRI non-conditional pacemaker / defibrillator – Represented Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia as a team member during discussions and for decision making. Created policies, procedures, workflows, and staffing for the Cardiac MRI program which includes patients with MRI conditional and non-conditional MRI cleared Pacemakers and Defibrillators. Duties included directly managing four Registered Nurses and six Medical Assistants. Reported to my practice manager, five Interventional Cardiologists, and a Nurse Practitioner. Additional Roles:

Device Nurse – Program Coordinator, 5/12-3/13

Collaborated with an Electrophysiology Physician Assistant to create a remote and in-office device clinic. Performed interrogation of pacemakers, defibrillators, CRT devices, and mobile telemetry monitoring. This role ended when the Physicians split into different practices and the Physician Assistant moved out of the Austin, Texas area. Additional Roles:

Devices were checked in the office and remotely. Duties included identifying abnormal pacemaker and defibrillator function and reporting normal and abnormal findings to the appropriate physician.

Traveled to multiple satellite locations to accommodate the physicians and assist with device checks.

Maintained clinic and hospital schedules for five Interventional Cardiologists, managed the Coumadin Clinic, triaging phone calls and returning messages, administering care and medications to patients that need assistance during stress testing, contacting patients in regard to lab and diagnostic test results, and conducting patient education. Day Recovery, Full Time RN. Pre-op / Post-op Telemetry Cardiac Department. 5/08 – 5/09 Cared for patients undergoing and recovering from cardiac catheterization, cardiac ablation, pacemaker and ICD insertions, and left atrial appendage closure device procedures.

Administered Moderate Sedation during TEE and synchronized cardioversions.
