Job Description and responsibilities:
Scrub Nurse Maintains sterile field. Assists the cardiac / vascular interventionist during the procedure. Prepares the sterile equipment according to protocols Circulating Nurse Assists during transfer of patients from and to the destination unit. Responsible for all things related to patient care & medications during procedures including conscious sedation. Prepares and administers any emergency medications that may be needed during the case. Prepares patient for procedure such as IV access, radial/ groin preparation, and ECG monitoring. Regulates and calculates medications and IV fluids. Provides nursing care to the patient undergoing the procedure – e.g. suctioning, oxygen therapy, CBG monitoring. Physiologic Nurse Monitors and records patient ECG, vital signs, and invasive pressure readouts and keeps the doctor appraised of anything considered abnormal. Records patient data taken during the entire procedure.Documents the whole procedure.

OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT

-provides health teaching to patients and significant others.
EMERGENCY ROOM
-handling patient in emergency room by taking their medical complaints and vital signs prior to physician’s exam.
-performs Intravenous insertion and cannulation.
-prepare, administer and document medications and therapy.
-assists physician during patient’s examination,diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
-carries out doctor’s order.
GENERAL WARD
-provides direct nursing care.
- carries out doctor’s order.
-performs assessment,planning,implementation and evaluation of patients condition with special considerations for patient’s safety and comfort.
-assists physicians during patients examination,diagnostic and therapeutic procedure.

Operating Room
-Provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgery. Prepares and maintains operating room for all surgical procedures. Establishes and utilizes a checklist to monitor the physical plan of the operating room and equipment for conformity to all national standards for ensuring safety for the patient and all personnel. Assembles the type and quantity of material and special equipment needed for daily procedures and possible emergencies. Circulates and scrubs for surgical procedures. Responds to surgical emergency requirements such as cardiac, pulmonary, or respiratory failure and hemorrhage.Maintains open communication lines, both intradepartmentally and interdepartmentally, to provide for total needs of the patient.Conducts preoperative and postoperative visits. Discusses operative procedures with patients and informs them of what to expect during surgery. DELIVERY ROOM
-assist the doctor with the delivery by providing medical information and managing equipment.
- providing encouragement to the mother and calling out instructions during delivery.
-monitor equipment that tracks the health of the fetus and mother.
-ensures the necessary equipment sits ready and hands the instruments to the doctor when requested.
- encourages the mother-to-be through childbirth and comfort the mother through particularly painful contractions or let the woman know how well she is performing
-Immediately after childbirth, move the infant to his own table and clean the baby of birthing fluids. The nurse also may give the infant an Apgar score, which judges the baby's activity and muscle tone, pulse, grimace response, respiration and skin color.
Intensive Care Unit
