I was hired by Lifespan Therapy, part of CarDon and Associates, as a full-time staff Physical Therapist Assistant in June 2009 to work in their Anderson long-term care facility. Within the first few months of my employment through Lifespan, I was entrusted with covering the department supervisor’s duties when she was not in the building. In January 2011, I was promoted to Therapy Supervisor. My responsibilities included supervising a department of approximately 20 staff members including physical therapists/ assistants, occupational therapists/assistants, speech therapists, therapy aids and clerical staff. I assisted in hiring staff, training staff, daily management of department, attending meetings, as well as treating patients as a Physical Therapist Assistant. In June of 2016, I transferred to our sister facility in Pendleton, to be closer to my home. My position continued as Therapy Supervisor of the Pendleton facility with the same duties and responsibilities. Not only do I have nearly 22 years experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a wide variety of settings including inpatient hospital, acute rehab, outpatient clinic, aquatics, wound care, pediatrics, home health care, skilled nursing, and vestibular rehab, I have 10 years experience in management. Over the years I have attended several management/supervision seminars and received specialized training in vestibular rehab. I received the Associate of the Month award in May of 2006 during my employment at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson Indiana and I am a 7 time nominee for the Lifespan Star of the Month award.
