• Main focus with the department is to attract, retain and motivate the staff; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate.

• Develop, recommend, implement and manage the department's budget capital expenditure plan, forecasts and objectives consistent with maintaining a first-class property, and management's expectations.

• Develop, implement and manage a maintenance program and negotiate maintenance contracts for the hotel, the grounds and all of the equipment in compliance with corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to ensure the safety, convenience and satisfaction of all guests, managers and employees to protect the asset and maintain the property in first class condition.

• Recruited by company to be the opening Director of Engineering for this brand-new hotel in Santa Clara. The Element Santa Clara is the first of its kind in Northern California therefore it was imperative that the hotel was on track to open on time effectively and within budget.

• In charge of working directly with Construction company to ensure brand standards were being adhered and timely schedule of room punches (readiness of rooms for guests). Oversaw the construction team was following city and county local codes. Worked with vendors directly and managed logistics to ensure room equipment was placed correctly in every room according to standards as well as ensure properly delivery times so not to hold construction progress. • Scheduled inspections with the Fire Department to ensure proper operations and safety of fire systems.

• Created the emergency preparedness toolkit for hotel employees to follow during emergencies such as: Fire Life and Safety, conducted employee fire drills, active shooter drills, OSHA safety trainings, lockout tagout, storage fire safety, and blood borne pathogens.
