Holding three U.S. patents, experienced in all mechanical and systems engineering functions, project/program management, and new product development from conception to completion. Accomplishments in system design and development of load bearing aircraft structures, composite materials testing and manufacturing, castings, forgings, extrusions, brazing, hot forming, stretch wrapping, welded rings, plastics processing equipment and materials, multi axis CNC machining, sheet metal forming, heat treatment techniques, hydraulic actuation systems, electromechanical systems, electronic control systems, motor controllers, factory automation systems, motors, servos, and programmable controls.

MY RECENT EXPERIENCE

TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER, Collins Aerospace 2016-2020

SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER, SYSTEMS ENGINEER 2009-2016

Result oriented, customer focused. Created a comfortable environment enabling transparent collaboration between cross functional teams and the customers. Technical focal point and project leader for development of flight-deck/ cabin control systems, fly by wire, electro mechanical devices, valves, sensors, motors, controllers and hydraulic actuators utilized in most advanced commercial and military Aerospace applications. Developed and produced documentation, manuals engineering drawings, tooling and testing. Coordinated and participated in all regulatory (FAA, DGAC) qualification and acceptance testing required for certification and market entry. (DO-160, DO-178 verification testing)

Brought together key individuals from different disciplines and developed wining and effective teams. Worked with cross-functional management in Engineering, Product Management, QA, Customer Support, Manufacturing Operations, etc. to plan and deliver new products (stick to surface components including cockpit controls, flight computers and actuation systems) to defense and commercial aerospace markets. Northrop Grumman B21, E2D, Embraer E2, ERJ 190, Boeing 777X, 787, F22, Airbus A350, A380, Textron Longitude.

Reduced development and production cycle time by focusing the team on high level requirements, milestones and managed completion of tasks one step at a time until all done. Led cross functional teams for complex technical projects from concept to commercialization, coordinated activities/tasks and resources across all departments including R&D, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Operations. Provided comprehensive tracking and monitoring for project team using project management expertise and tools. Direct communications with the FAA for achieving type certificate and PMA.

Reduced product cycle costs by developing plans and schedules that were realistic and accepted by the development and production teams. Responsible for all product line performance, cost, quality, and delivery issues. Responsibilities include ensuring customer and program expectations are met through daily interface with the customer, engineering, and production teams. Facilitated risk management of projects and escalation/mitigation of significant deviations.

Managed the day to day activities of a team of 17 mechanical, electrical, software and system engineers. Managed the overall budget including capital expenditure, supplier management and quality management. Team was tasked to design, develop and test very large and structurally complex hydraulic and electro mechanical actuation systems for Boeing and Airbus aircraft. (from 2008 to 2016)

Focal point, technical lead engineer responsible for development of the first high power electric horizontal trim system for the new Airbus A350. This actuator is a primary flight control system and it can withstands loads up to 100,000 pounds with over 5 feet range of motion. (Over 60 million dollars, 30 engineers and 4 years of development time.)

SINIOR PROGRAM MANAGER, Northrop Grumman 2007-2009

Developed accurate program plans, coordinated requirements with the satellite customer. Assembled a capable team to design, test and manufacture a satellite bus system made from bonded metallic and composite structures (Bus is the infrastructure of the spacecraft providing locations for the payload) to meet all customer specifications. All structures were fabricated using in-house processes, autoclaves and then machined, processed, quality tested (NDT) and assembled. All precision tight tolerance assembly tools were also fabricated in house.

Coordinated all design, testing and development activity with internal and external teams. Scheduled and successfully completed preliminary and critical design reviews with satellite manufacturer and its customer.

Interacted with the world major satellite and launch vehicle manufacturers during the initial conceptual design phase. Developed and presented solutions leading toward the resolution of mission critical mechanism issues. (GPS, Mars landers, International Space Station, Space Shuttle)

MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

DIRECTOR, NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, GKN Aerospace

Responsible for maintaining and growing a 50 million-dollar business by defining, developing and introducing to the Aerospace, automotive and commercial markets; products and services utilizing company’s propriety manufacturing techniques, advanced high performance structures and capabilities. one of the key capabilities was producing welded honeycomb panels that could then be formed, welded, heat treated and machined. This unique process was ideal for high temperature acoustic structures such as jet engine exhaust nozzles and aircraft cowlings.

Worked with all world major airlines, including Lufthansa, Air France, SAS, American, Delta, to identify recurring structural issues and developed FAA certified after market solutions (STC, PMA) for direct sales.

SINIOR PROGRAM MANAGER, SPACE PRODUCTS, Eaton

Responsible for design, production, customer interface, and market development of custom designed electro mechanical connectors, hermetic seals, non-explosive actuation systems, switches and explosive actuators utilized in design of commercial and military satellite and launch vehicle systems.

MANAGER, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, John Deere

Managed the day-to-day functions of a team of engineers, software designers and lab technicians. The team’s responsibility included the design and development of consumer plastic goods using injection molding, extrusion, blown film (sprinklers and irrigation tubing) and electromechanical automated plastic packaging equipment. The products and equipment designed and fabricated by the team utilized Robotics, Hydraulics, Servo and Programmable Logic Control technology.

PROJECT, THERMO, AND DESIGN ENGINEER, United Technologies

Originated and developed design and test procedures for load bearing composite structures, electrical systems, hydraulic equipment and pneumatic systems used on a variety of aircraft, nacelles and jet engines. Prepared project plans, schedules and maintained responsibility for project budget and manpower requirements. Developed anti icing systems.

Originated design, testing, process development, allowable, validation and certification of aircraft structures using composite materials to replace existing structures. These composite structures were lighter, stronger and less costly to produce.
