Manufacturing Engineer

In charge of the shop support for the manufacture and servicing of oilfield capital drilling equipment. Quality system defect Review, Disposition, and Work Order Resolution. Quality oversight, process improvement and expediting production to keep on time delivery. Authored and administered Manufacturing Work Methods for major products and sub-processes. Created Safety Risk Assessment of job tasks for a safe work environment.

Kept production time on schedule and uninterrupted while acting as the Temporary Cell Leader, Shop Supervisor, Production Coordinator and Manufacturing Engineer during an active plant total shutdown.

Expedited emergency riser assembly safety tooling allowing re-start of normal production and productivity tooling which in turn expedited the normal and safe production.

Implemented a Laser system to measure pipe straightness resulting in precise measurement using half of the personnel in a quarter of the time.

Discovered previously used mechanical welding plugs were expensive and worn. I researched, sourced and implemented low cost disposable silicone weld masking plugs to reduce defects. They were so successful the machine shop also put them into use to eliminate debris defects.

Partnered with maintenance section and vendor on roll through abrasive blast booth to solve problem of repeat unplanned monthly shutdowns. Panel liners were tested and put into use to maintain uninterrupted on time monthly production as maintenance shutdowns were now planned quarterly periodic maintenance.

Created New production and Service inspection Work Order routing Templates for rapid/accurate work order creation, reducing time spent and increased accuracy for manufacturing operations workorders.

Employed Kanban storage system for chemical drums, abrasives, welding wire and flux for uninterrupted production and increased on time delivery.

Installed Paint storage shelving for safe ergonomic access and product organization.

Production Operations Manager & Purchasing

In charge of the daily production management, inventory control and material planning/purchasing for two distinct operations in the same facility. One was a low production volume, high skill, high pressure oilfield hose coupling operation. The other was a high volume, low skill, industrial hose coupling operation. Secondary functions included: product cost quoting to salespeople, customer claims diagnosis, minor product redesign, shipment expediting, API (American Petroleum Institute) documentation maintenance, construction process improvement, human resources management, computer system adaptation and facility maintenance management.

Forecasted materials procurement for rapid demand response and increased on time performance.

Just in Time Product demand analysis + vendor communication resulted in a 50 percent inventory reduction and increased on time performance to 99 percent.

Forecast production planning to lower production set up costs by thousands of dollars monthly.

Unitized bulk packaging to lower production costs and increase on time performance.

Warehouse cycle counting program put into place and resulted in a $70 inventory variance for annual Physical Inventory.

Converted minor inventory to expense to get better product cost estimation and halved time for Physical Inventory.
