ATF enforces the federal laws and regulations relating to alcohol, tobacco, firearms, explosives and arson by working directly and in cooperation with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. ATF has the authority to seize and forfeit firearms, ammunition, explosives, alcohol, tobacco, currency, conveyances and certain real property involved in violation of law. Record Examiner Analyst (Investigative Analyst) provides the Data Analyst tasks (listed below) and, also, executed the following: review data and information from multiple sources; establish case/project files; enter & retrieve data from data bases; prepare and format management reports; manipulate, transfer, compute and print information; create and manipulate spreadsheets; prepare and correct reports and correspondence with other agencies for the government; conduct validation and verification of law enforcement case files and case data systems and documentation retrieval from other federal, state and local agencies. Apply laws, rules and regulations to research of cases were applicable. NFORCE, CATS, ACCURINT applications and other law enforcement databases and applications used for work performance.
Data Analyst executes the following duties:
• Provide organization and management of case files
• Review data (completeness of information, proper execution)
• Extract data from data base
• Obtain additional information from other investigative agencies/data base
• Establish/maintain physical file
• Prepare notices/advertisements
• Receive, suspense pennons, claims, process sharing requests
• Reconcile inconsistencies

• Maintain internal status information on the disposition of all forfeited assets
• Assure information is accurate and perform analytical computations necessary to process data
• Conduct and reconcile inventories
• Distribute and receive documents
• Assist lead analyst or officials in obtaining/collecting all documents/information to complete case file
• Provide administrative information and assistance concerning case to other investigative agencies, local law enforcement agencies, US Attorney, and other DOJ processing USAO, and higher headquarters
