Worked as Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of Oman Investment & Finance Co. SAOG, Post Box No. 2476, Ruwi, Post Code:112, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
Messrs. Oman Investment & Finance Co. SAOG is one of the “A” Grade companies in Muscat, Sultanate ofOman. The Company was established in December 1979 and got the agency for handling “Meter Reading, Billing and collection of Elelctricity & Water utilities in the Muscat Governorate, Sultanate of Oman.
From March 1980 the company started its operations and has grown manifold in strength and at present it is handling billing and collection against not only Electricity and Water utilities but telecom utilities (landline, mobile and internet) all over Oman. The company has 45 branches spread over the entire country.
I joined this organization in December 1982 as Secretary to the then Managing Director.
As most of the company’s operations were centralized at the Managing Director’s office, my job responsibilities were vast and in addition to the official duties, I dealth with all the personal work entrusted by the Managing Director and also had to co ordinate with all the other departments and assisting them in handling correspondence and maintaining files.
It is worth while to mention that all the typing works were carried out on electronic typewriters. Some typewriters came with additional feature of limited storage but most of the work had to be typewritten. When personal computers came into existence during 1985/1986 I learnt to use word processors and slowly became proficient in the use of computers/internet. What I mean to mention here is the transformation from manual to computer process.
After a short break for a few months in the middle of the year 1988, I rejoined the company in August 1988 and continued my work in the same position.
With the change in Management in January 2000, I played a very important role in the Executive Management under the job title, “Executive Assistant to the CEO”
I am giving a general brief about the responsibilities I handled:
The fact that I joined the Company during its early stages of operations, after inception, placed me in an advantageous position in the sense that I was fully aware of all the aspects of company’s business and had an insight into the backgroud of all operations.

02.Attending all internal meetings, board meetings, Executive Committee meetings of the board, preparing minutes of the meetings, preparing board resolutions etc.
03.As the company is a joint stock company (with its shares listed in the Muscat Securities Market) I needed to take care of the compliance issues like timely disclosure of quarterly financials, uploading the necessary information in the website of the Muscat Securities Market.
04.Handling of incoming/outgoing mail.
05.Extensive self correspondence.
Elaborating on the ideas and points given to me and drafting business letters, taking care of the simplest routine correspondence to more complicated and detailed ones.
06.Handling public relations issues like giving suitable write ups in the press, advertisements etc.

This enriched my knowledge about most of the HR related functions like placing advertisements, preparing job responsibilities, screening applications, conducting interviews and recommending final selection.
08.Renewal of passports, visas and other Personnel and Administration procedures.
09.Most important of all, responsible for payroll and related functions for the Managerial category service personnel. There were about 25 Executive Managers.
