-Excerpts from personnel file:
-12-22-2008 - Bonus $2,500- Mike Banks discovered Starlight Environmental Corp. and their remarkable remediation methodology. Mike brought L-3 and Starlight together and facilitated the development of a strong business relationship. This relationship is developing into a business area with enormous upside potential beginning in early 09’. We expect that within a year, our remediation work will represent our largest business area. This business opportunity was discovered and brought forward solely by Mike Banks.
-From Annual Review 02-19-2009:
-This is Mike's first annual performance evaluation. He has been with L-3 for 11 months. He split this year supporting two departments. Initially, Mike implemented an improved graphics platform which significantly enhanced the appearance of the Spec War Pac Rat database. His initiative and creativity on this project resulted in a product that was well received by the customer. For the last six months, Mike was brought on full time to be the JACK(Virtual Man-in-the-loop) software program operator. This is a new capability for L-3 and Mike is steadily bringing this capability to fruition. His outstanding CAD skills and determination to understand the nuances of this complex software has resulted in outstanding support to three very important Navy projects. In addition to the graphics and JACK projects, he was instrumental in introducing an environmental remediation company to L-3. Mike is a team player who can be counted on to get the job done. He is an excellent communicator and works extremely well with everyone. He is a welcome addition to our HSI team and an asset to L-3. Mike has growth potential.
-12-14-2009 - Recommend a $2,000 spot bonus for Mr. Banks for outstanding support to the T-Craft mockup project. During a recent review meeting our team and government sponsor were introduced to the mockup. They received a briefing and were given hands on demonstration of human factors assessments. They were very impressed with the cockpit mockup and the human factors engineering that went into its design. Your dedicated support to this project has been key to the successful completion of this realistic mockup. Thank you for your support and for a job well done.
-In an email 03-15-2010 from Kirk Dye
-Mike, Deborah,
Pete sent me your new business proposal for geothermal energy, and I wanted to personally thank you for taking the initiative to send in your proposal. Your idea showcases exactly the kind of innovative thinking that we’re trying to promote by holding the new business competition. Further, I’m impressed with how well you have targeted a market being shaped by current global trends (green energy, pollution, renewable sources, and energy independence) that we can position ourselves to capitalize on by thinking strategically.
We are rolling out the formal ISBU new business competition in early April, and I’ll include your proposal in the 2010 NBC. I wish you the best of luck in the competition, and thank you again for taking the effort to submit your proposal!
Thanks,
Kirk Dye
-Note: Our Geothermal Energy submission was the winning (popular vote) entry.
-From Annual Review 02/17/2010:
-Mike continues to perform all of his duties as the Jack software operator in an excellent manner. His increased knowledge of this software program has paid dividends in the development of the human interface for new two-man cockpit layouts for both T-Craft and SSC. These new designs would not be possible without Mike's expertise with the Jack program. He provides the virtual model which is then translated to the physical model. Mr Banks is an excellent problem solver and a good communicator. He recently received a spot bonus for his presentation on the Jack modeling done as a part of the T-Craft program. Mike has also been instrumental in the development of Finite Element Analysis for other new research and development projects. His determination to succeed makes him an asset to the human factors team. He works very well with customers and fellow L-3 employees. Mike has growth potential.
-From Annual Review 3/31/2011:
-Mike continues to be the sole operator of Jack our virtual human modeling program. Due to lack of full time virtual modeling work, Mike has supported many other programs this past year and has done so in an excellent manner. He is very adaptable and a quick learner. He makes positive contributions to all projects even those that are completely new to him. Mike is an innovative thinker who looks for business opportunities for L-3. He co authored a ISBN business concept which received an honorable mention award. Mike works hard on and off the job to improve his skills and become an even more capable and productive L-3 employee. He has stepped up to support the newly acquired water purification program by developing the intitialoperators manual. He has also supported the assembly and testing of these new systems. Mike also supported a very short fuzed requirement for Jack work on crew and passenger compartments on the Combatant Craft Medium RFP. The prime contractor was impressed with the final product. He continues to learn additional computer programs that have allowed him to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tasking. Mike continues to grow professionally and is an asset to L-3.

-Extremely strong leader and manager; has the natural talents and the knack to absorb business knowledge as well as recognize business development opportunities……he is being groomed by PM and Senior Analyst for more progressively advanced management responsibilities.
-Given where Mr. Banks’ management talents are now; recommend a higher position when the opportunity arises.
-
-From Annual Review 5/16/2014:
-Leadership and management traits have been recognized and nurtured by the MC ES PM. Michael continues to show strengths in these areas as well as the elements of system planning and executing.
-Recommend that Michael be considered for future opportunities outside of the MC ES contract in order for him to progress to his next successive level whenever TSI is able to accommodate.
