Job Profile:

Receipt inspection: Materials like, plates, pipes, nozzle forgings, forged shells, fittings, Quick opening closure, Structural items of various profiles as per various standards, fasteners, gaskets, etc. with respect to approved purchase order, client specification, approved drawings, applicable Code & Standards & coordinating with labs for any required testing. Also maintaining record of materials used for construction.

Inspection Planning: Preparation of QA / QC Plan in line with specification and Code / Standard requirements and obtain customer /client approval for their Hold, Witness or Surveillance check points, Preparation of Seam wise and assembly wise checklist to maintain better track of the job progress. Preparation of Detailed Inspection Procedures, etc.

Approving Vendor Inspection Plan:

Reviewing vendor inspection plan and proposing correct stage against any mismatch in vendor’s inspection plan through the reference of code, applicable client specification and knowledge of manufacturing process details.

Job Profile:

● Review of project specification and preparation of ITP / QAP as per codes & client requirements specifying various stages of inspection.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WINDING INSPECTION

Prior to Welding:

Review and understand the applicable portions of CSD approved plans, specifications, field changes, and other CSD approved documents. Approved shop drawings, erection drawings, and referenced codes and standards must be reviewed and understood.

Review manufacturer's Material Test Report (MTR). Verify that all materials properties (e.g., grade, type, size, thickness) are as specified by CSD approved documents, and that all materials are readily identifiable and traceable to an MTR.

Verify that all applicable welder, welding operator, and tack welder qualifications are available, current, and accurate.

Verify that a written Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is available on site for each type of weld, the WPS is in compliance with all requirements, and the WPS has been approved as required by the construction documents.

Verify that all welding consumables, approved documents and the approved WPS. Verify that all electrodes are properly stored.

During Welding:

Verify that joint preparation, assembly practice, preheat temperatures, interposes temperatures,

Welding techniques, welder performance, and post-weld heat treatment meet the requirements of

CSD approved documents, WPS, and applicable AWS code.

Verify that the welding current and voltage are within the WPS parameters by using a calibrated hand-held volt/amp meter. Readings should be taken as near the arc as possible.

To ensure that the welds of all new welders on site are examined by required NDT methods

Immediately to determine the capability of the welder to achieve the standard of welding.

Ensure that weld repairs are recorded immediately and that the identity and location of the repair is

Clearly defined and all weld repairs are recorded to monitor the execution of their rework through to ultimate acceptance.

Check amperage, voltage polarity, correct welding technique, correct welding direction, and correct

Interposes temperature and ensure adequate cleaning between passes.

Post Welding:

Conduct visual inspection of the work. Verify size, length, and location of all welds.

Verify that all

Welds conform to the requirements of the AWS code and CSD approved documents.

Weld size and Contour shall be measured with suitable gauges.

Mark completed welds, parts, and joints that have been inspected and accepted with a distinguishing mark, tag or dye stamp.
