Senior Manager – GISC (Midrange and Mainframe) and cloud transformation

Leading four different towers (Midrange Unix, Windows, VMWARE, Citrix, iSeries, Mainframe and Middleware) for Global Infrastructure Shared Services and Communications in Sony Corporation of America. This responsibility spawns North America, Latin America and Europe. Significant achievements include cost reduction of all major contracts by eliminating waste, consolidating data centers, cloud migration and hardware refresh from older platform to newer platform. T-Mobile USA – Bothell, Washington Jan 2015 to Feb 2017

Manager – Enterprise Unix

Managing a team of 20 full time employees and contractors in T-Mobile USA. T-Mobile has more than 12,000 Unix servers in its environment. This position is to manage 24 x 7 operations of enterprise unix servers in its data centers and transform daily operational tasks to automated workflows so that manual labor is reduced. Responsibilities include automation, dev ops, data center consolidation, capacity planning, keeping lights on, proactive maintenance planning, patching, compliance, technical documentation, problem management, incident management and change management. Significant achievements include streamlining of production support processes, turnover of servers from build to production with high quality, automation of patching and other manual tasks using puppet and ansible. Team has patched 12000 servers without any incidents within three months repeatedly for several quarters. This is first time ever in T-Mobile history. This has resulted in stability of environment and reduction of labor costs. We have achieved near zero downtime for production for multiple quarters in 2016 and 2017. Entire patching was automated with puppet and servicenow across AIX, Linux and Solaris. Cost savings were 2 million dollars an year. In addition to these, implemented proactive monitoring across all platforms including hardware which enabled reduction of incidents. Implemented quarterly patching program with good results in shorter time frame. Successfully migrated older p6 hardware to newer hardware p7. Implemented new operational model to achieve target SLA (99.9999) for unix operations.

Senior Manager – IS (Unix & VMS)

This position reported to Senior Director, Systems and Storage. Manages a team of 41 System Administrators (Open VMS, AIX, Solaris and Linux) onsite and off shore. Primary duties include 24x7 production support of mission critical infrastructure which consists of 3000 Unix servers (AIX, Solaris and Linux) and VMS Servers for mission critical applications, capacity planning, SOX/PCI /HIPAA compliance, architecture, vendor management, project management and providing direction to team members. Manager – Trinity Operations

This position was reporting to Director of Infrastructure in PayPal. Managed a team of five Unix System Administrators and 3 MySQL Database administrators. Primary duties include 24x7 production support of 1000 unix servers, server builds, capacity planning, PCI compliance, architecture, vendor management, project management and providing direction to team members. Additional duties include budgeting, managing small and medium projects for implementation of new applications, capacity planning, data center migration, communication with internal and external stakeholders etc. Significant achievements include

-Upon taking charge of Trinity operations, qualification and testing of servers, operating systems and OS images before deployment were streamlined.

-Implemented change management and problem management processes for Trinity Ops.

Service Delivery Manager / Infrastructure Program Manager March 2001 to August 2011

Managed a team of 25 members in India and 6 members in US in Managed services delivery (MSD) aka Cloud Division of IBM in Lead role for datacenter and server activation team. MSD is an Infrastructure and Application hosting business and cloud division of IBM. Server activation team is involved in server installation of new customers for IBM MSD in US, EMEA and Asia-Pacific using IBM pSeries, xSeries and Sun hardware. Role included cost effective utilization of assets and human resources for the projects; manage inventory in data centers, co-ordination of infrastructure projects for server activation team (15-20 projects at any point of time) which included the entire spectrum of hardware, network, backup, SAN storage, monitoring and data center and capacity planning in the data centers. Started as a system administrator and became a system lead in 4 years before Corio was acquired by IBM. Corio was the leader in enterprise application and Infrastructure hosting in the domain of IaaS and SaaS (Software as a Service) / Cloud. As part of the job, traveled to India to start UNIX activation and support team in Corio India Private Ltd in 2002.
