Duties included:

• Being the first point of contact with visitors, and screening calls and responding to those within scope of knowledge; being available to staff and members of the congregation as a ministry/office resource, respecting confidential issues.

• Preparing bulletins for Sunday services, updating liturgy and announcements; preparing bulletins for special services,

(i.e., Christmas and Holy Week services).

• Maintaining and updating church membership database with worship attendance, communion, baptisms, member deaths and transfers, and weddings. Preparing Certificates of Baptism, Confirmation, and Membership.

• Preparing Annual Report for the Congregational Meeting and gathering information for reports to the Synod office and national office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

• Preparing reports, agenda and council meeting minutes for council members.

• Monitoring and handling paper and electronic correspondence. Gathering information, event calendars, and other materials for monthly newsletter and website.

• Assisting pastor, church council and others of death or tragedies; assisting in arrangements for funeral services.

• Coordinating with the council treasurer the monthly billings, and investigating questions of incoming bills.

• Performing other duties for the pastor and other ministries of the church. Prior to my 12 years at First Lutheran Church, I held various clerical positions. For several years, beginning in 1998, I was employed by Kelly Services, Inc., providing temporary clerical help as requested at different businesses, including JMC Inc., Stavely Instruments (now Olympus), Fluor Daniels Hanford, and Sacred Heart Hospital (Spokane). Permanent office positions held included Cornerstone Chiropractic, Stavely Instruments, Mike Johnson, Inc. Construction, Pacific Northwest Laboratory, and in the radio industry.
