MELISSA MASTERS BIO

Melissa Masters moved to Los Angeles two weeks after graduating with a Telecommunications degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She landed her first job at the busy Kohner Agency working with theatrical clients on a variety of film and television projects. She then moved into the TV movie arena working in development first at Von Zerneck-Sertner Films on a slate of 7 to 9 movies per year for NBC, ABC and CBS, then as Manager of Development at Wilshire Court Productions where she helped develop their slate supplying USA Network with 11 movies per year.

Melissa’s first experience in feature films was at Keith Addis and Nick Weschler’s Industry Entertainment and worked on the development of many projects including 15 MINUTES. From there she worked at David Friendly and Marc Turtletaub’s Deep River Productions as Director of Development on a variety of film projects including LAWS OF ATTRACTION written by Aline Brosh-McKenna, starring Julianne Moore and Pierce Brosnan and the Oscar winning film LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE starring Steve Carrell and Toni Collette.

Melissa career came full circle when she returned to the Kohner Agency, this time as a Literary Agent representing film rights for many authors including Gregory Maguire, Donald Westlake and for Scholastic Books.

After the birth of her daughters, Melissa was fortunate to be able to make the choice to stay at home to raise them. The time spent in Hollywood working with a variety of personalities served her well as she navigated Los Angeles private schools, first as the Preschool President of the Parent Association followed by two stints as a room coordinator, two years as an Elementary Vice President and the Co-chair of various committees and fund-raising efforts.

Melissa has maintained many relationships in Hollywood and is married to a successful screenwriter. She continues to enjoy helping friends with ideas and project notes and connecting them for representation. She has always loved reading and being involved in causes close to her heart surrounding children, animals, women and the environment.
