Summary

WDDM Concession Development

Development of discoveries that are mostly biogenic gas filled with some abundance of thermogenic gas/condensate depending on the depth and access to charge.

Part of a multidisciplinary team doing Field development planning (FDP) and Full Field Reviews (FFR) on greenfield, brownfield and EOR projects.

Responsible for all reservoir geophysics work, including:

Seismic structural and sequence stratigraphic interpretation, and depth conversion to create the reservoir static models.

Providing the least possible depth error by performing several depth conversion methodologies to overcome the problems like lateral and vertical velocity variations.

Discriminate lithologic and fluid boundaries using seismic reservoir characterization tools (QI; AVO, Pre and Post-stack inversion, attribute analysis, geobody interpretation, time-lapse seismic …etc.) to aid in the well planning phases and delay water production.

Conducted seismic 4D feasibility study before shooting 4D seismic in 2014 to make sure that it will add value, or otherwise save the shooting cost.

Well planning; geotechnical document preparation, geohazard screening and avoidance, surface and target optimization, setting TD criteria and following drilling operations.

Well Rejuvenation

Screened for new opportunities in the vicinity of abandoned wells.

Integration with a team of petrophysicists, drilling and reservoir engineers.

WDDM Concession Pre-Pliocene Exploration

Tendering for an Offshore broadband 3D seismic data acquisition aiming to better image the deep subsalt HPHT section.

Delivering the Scope of Work in the Invitation To Tender (ITT).

Technical evaluation of candidate vendors for both seismic acquisition and processing.

Witnessing the acquisition operations on the offshore vessel and QC’ing the processing work.

Performed regional interpretation and basin analysis in complex structural subsalt plays.

Provided guidelines and workflows for seismic amplitude interpretation for the exploration purposes via building regional rock physics template integrating seismic and well data.

Successfully built Microsoft Excel worksheets covering rock physics workflows. Results came very close to RokDoc outputs. This task has cost saving implications.

Depth conversion of deep regional subsalt horizons by building a regional velocity model. The model involved multilayers with different velocity modeling algorithms such as (polynomial, compaction trend, average velocity).

Messinian Exploration

The project scope was to find and evaluate similar prospects to Zohr giant Biogenic Gas field that was discovered in the Nile Delta Basin as a Messinian reefal carbonate reservoir.

Source rock and reservoir regional mapping followed by detailed reservoir mapping

Used basin models and structural restorations to check whether the trap was formed during the biogenic gas migration time for each prospect.

Developed a new rock physics model using AVO classification to discriminate the reservoir and non-reservoir rocks.

Increased the company resources inventory using prospects generated from the new approach.

Performing structural restoration and fault seal analysis studies to support regional understanding and prospect maturation.

Hydrocarbon Maturation

Screening the shallow plays aiming to define the remaining potential in the concession.

Successfully designed and implemented an automated workflow to screen the different seismic vintages and calculate the corresponding volumes.

The project resulted in generation of a number of prospects which were ranked and high-graded based on volume and risk. The best prospects were drilled and resulted in raising the portfolio and later on the company production.

The workflow, finding and output of the project were presented as a technical presentation in the EAGE 76th conference and exhibition in Amsterdam.

Reservoir Geomodelling

Building and updating 3D reservoir models (Geomodelling) using advanced Petrel workflow and best practice experience in various fields to come up with respective and representative models that capture the stratigraphic heterogeneity and guide the development plan.

Incorporating all geological, geophysical, reservoir and production data in building water tight models.

Support the auditing of database applied within the geological model and ensures that is maintained and updated regularly.

Fault seal analysis using 1D&3D models.

Reserve calculation and uncertainty analysis using different tools (GeoX, Crystal Ball, and 3D Models) and different methodology (deterministic and stochastic).

Post well analysis.

Fracture Characterization Project (Iran)

Identified seismic plane discontinuities using 3D seismic edge enhancement methods.

Fracture characterization using best practice methodologies and industry standard software.

Generated brittleness attributes from prestack seismic inversion and spectral decomposition.
