Sort all linens and treat stains

Load all laundry into washer and add specified cleaning agents

Take wet, clean items and dry as directed

Maintain inventory of all cleaning supplies and communicate needs to general manager

Maintaining all laundry equipment and inform facilities manager as to any maintenance needs

Responsible for proper running of equipment and proper amounts of chemicals. Ensures that established infection control and universal precaution practices are followed in the Laundry Department as some tasks may involve exposure to blood/body fluids.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

1) Starts pumps to operate distilling system that drains and reclaims dry cleaning solvents.

2) Cleans machine filters and lubricates equipment. 3) Mends and sews articles, using hand stitching, adhesive patch, or power sewing machine.

4) Hangs curtains, drapes, blankets, pants, and other garments on stretch frames to dry, and transports items between specified locations.

5) Irons or presses articles, fabrics, and furs, using hand iron or pressing machine. 6) Receives and marks articles for laundry or dry cleaning with identifying code number or name, using hand or machine marker.

7) Sorts and counts articles removed from dryer and folds, wraps, or hangs items for airing out, pickup, or delivery.

8) Examines and sorts articles to be cleaned into lots, according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique required.
