Newly acquired skills for Sutureless Aortic Valve replacements conventional and minimally invasive with or without Off-Pump CABG Chief of Cardiac Surgery and Acting Medical Suptd. Jan, 2010 – Oct 2014 Alchemist Institue of Medical Scienes, Gurgaon, India Joined hands with most renowned Prof. P. Venugopal and established Cardiac Surgery programme from February, 2010. Procedures include - Off pump CABG, Single and multiple valve replacements, adult, pediatric and neonatal congenital cardiac corrections. Performed on an average 10 to 25 surgeries a month and achieved near limited morbidity and mortality.

Director Cardiac Sciences and Chief of Cardiac Surgery July, 2002 – Dec, 2010 Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, N.Delhi/Faridabad, India Started Open heart and Pediatric Surgery programme at the newly established unit. (a subsidiary of Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi). Perfomed over 2000 operations. Mainly CABG and few Congenital Cardiac Corrections. All CABG’s done OFF Pump including high risk patients, left main disease and unstable patients on IABP etc. Less than 1% mortality with limited morbidity.

Started Open Heart Surgery programme at Kota Heart Centre and Goyal Escorts Hospital, Jodhpur, in affiliation of Escorts Hospital in November 2004. Again with no morbidity or mortality in operated patients.

Invited by Cleveland Clinic, Ohio USA that collaborated with BM Birla Heart Research Centre, Calcutta to resurrect the cardiac surgery unit. Performed over 2000 operations, mainly CABG’s with total or partial arterial grafts (mostly Off pump ), valve replacements, and complex neonatal and pediatric cardiac operations like Arterial switch, Rastelli and TCPC etc. Perfomed more than 400 cases of Minimally invasive cardiac operations like valve replacements, ASD and VSD closures etc.

Started Minimally invasive / VATS ( Endoscopic ) surgery and performed more than 200 such operations, before relinquishing this position. 8000 cardiac operations performed at SGPGIMS through tenure.

Established Neonatal and Pediatric Cardiac Surgical programme in July 1993 on return from England. 30% Clinical work remained as Congenital Heart Disesase corrections, including Neonates and infants. Congenital cardiac surgery operations from July 1993, have ranged from neonates to adults like total intracardiac repair of Tetralogy of Fallot, AVSD, Sennings procedure, Rastelli and Fontan operation etc. with excellent results. Overall immediate Hospital Survival had been more than 95% including correction of most complex cardiac operaions.

Developed a Minithoracotomy technique for Blalock-Taussig shunt, Minithoracotomy for ASD closure, Indigenous total PTFE valved conduit for RVOT reconstruction, Stepped correction of d-TGA etc.

However 70% Operative work comprised of Adult Cardiac surgery that included CABG ( Partial or Total arterial grafts ),Valve replacements etc and vascular surgery. Developed partial venovenous bypass technique for intraoperative blood retrieval in vascular operations and renal cell carcinoma.

Also undertook reconstructive procedures in children and adults like mitral valve reconstructions, mitral valve apparatus preservation for valve replacements and left atriopexy for giant or aneurysmal left atrium.

The quantum of work I was involved with was 70% CABG and 30% Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. Worked as Overseas Registrar in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.

Assisted as First Assistant in more than 300 Open cardiac operations beside performing few under supervision and independantly.
