Registered Nurse
Employed as a registered nurse to provide occupational health services to a
Pharmaceutical company located in Coppell, Texas. Assisted in the establish-
ment of this clinic as it was a new service to the facility. My role is to treat acute
occupational injuries and illnesses, provide health counseling for those who
have questions about conditions they may be experiencing and guiding them to
the appropriate resources to have those issues addressed. I work to facilitate
the return to work process for employees with work related injuries, as well as
coordinate the return to work process for those who have had exposures to
COVID or the actual illness. Maintain a spread sheet of all illnesses onsite and
guide employees on how to return to work. Worked with the SHE department
to develop policy and procedure for Respiratory Fit Testing. Responsible for
maintaining up to date records on all employees requiring fit testing and ensure
they have completed the required medical evaluations and respirator training
and fit testing. I have also provided blood pressure and cholesterol screenings
as part of a health fair and counseling to the participating employees regarding
their results. Coordinated flu clinics and educated staff on benefits of obtaining
the vaccination. Health and wellness is an important focus at this company
therefore I participate on various company teams where a health care provider’s
input is needed and valued. Currently participate virtually with the GeLness
team, which has a focus on Health and Wellness, and the SHE Core Team
which focuses on safety and health issues that may affect the different work
areas. Prior to COVID, participated in Tier 1 meetings (change of shift) for
of events, illnesses, or injuries occurring over night and to share information
related to upcoming SHE or clinic events. Ergonomics is a growing area of
interest and need at the facility and have collaborated with other SHE
professionals and an ergonomist to develop an ergonomic program here. Have
obtained computer based ergonomic training. Maintain all records related to
employees who are seen at the clinic, as well as records required for the running
of the clinic. Maintained contact with Concentra physicians for guidance as
needed.
