NATIONAL HOME WATCH ASSOCIATION OCT 2020 – DEC 2020 RESOLVE MULTIUSER ISSUES IN MICROSOFT 365 ACCESS – REMOTE Errors were occurring when opening Access database from OneDrive or SharePoint (SP). NHWA had opened tickets with Microsoft and spent many calls without resolution.

The solution was reached by taking steps in both Access and SP:

• Replaced Access’s tool “Move data to SharePoint” as runtime errors such as “this dataset is not updateable" occurred.

• Removed Autonumber from each Access table and replaced with a system-values table and Visual Basic code. Recreated incorrectly converted tables in SP Lists. Used SQL statements in Access to simulate the relationships not supported in SP. Added multi-user record locking and solved data set not being updateable by updating form properties.

• Fully tested, documented, and demonstrated the working system. Solution was accepted by the client.
