Enterprise Solutions
To whom it may concern, please find attached my application for the Public Relations and Marketing Assistant position. I am a Junior at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) with a major in Communications on the Public Relations track as well as a General Business minor. My curriculum has introduced me to areas such as public relations, the art of communication, marketing, accounting, and finance. The knowledge I have gained through my academics has established a strong foundation for further exploration of the impact public affairs decisions have on both consumers and the company.
My coursework, internship experience, counseling at Camp Heritage, and collegiate extracurriculars provide a basis for the knowledge and skills necessary to be a Public Relations Intern:
Leadership and Communication – In my position as a Sexual Assault Prevention Intern, I run small focus groups designed to advance awareness and interactive discussions as well as larger groups of 150-200 participants, with complex diversification, to promote both safe and effective methods to approach sexual assault prevention as well as facilitate discussion of related topics in this group setting.
Creative - As a Sexual Assault Prevention Intern, I and my fellow interns have been responsible for developing content and keeping the Instagram page current with innovative graphics and content to the student community.
Collaborative and Problem Solving – In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities for the youth campers, as a senior counselor I was also asked based on my leadership skills and style to train the junior counselors and be a resource point for struggling counselors in training.
Drive - As my Greek organization’s Philanthropy Chair I learned to coordinate my own individual mission-driven ideas and how to also incorporate collective ideas from the group without losing focus on the end goal and intent. This experience taught me how to combine business objectives with the emotional connections of serving a real community need, in this case, families and patients battling pediatric illness and injuries in the local community who need financial support.
I believe that my experiences, in combination with my knowledge collected from my academics, make me a strong and prepared candidate for this position. I would really appreciate the opportunity to be part of your organization through this internship, not just because of how it further my own skillsets and development, but from what my insights and work can give back to Enterprise Solutions. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application and I look forward to hearing from you.
Respectfully,
P. Garner Randazzo
