OVERVIEW
I have long standing experience as an art director, designer, photographer, production manager, and occasionly, a marketing consultant and Illustrator. From the nineties, I built the foundation of my expertise with employment in publishing at Learning Magazine, advertising at Tycer.Fultz.Bellack, and design at Ciardella Design. Contributions included on-the-mark estimating, scheduling, designing, art direction, illustration, project and team management and quality control. In 2000 I created my own business By Design Productions providing the same services to a variety of my own clients: such as AFT, AMD, Davis Learning, Fairchild, Kevex, Measurex, Mitsubishi, Rotoflex, Santa Clara Valley Water District, and more See samples of my DESIGN on-line at www.onlybydesign.com/portfolio/portfolio_intro.html During my self-employment time, I have also provided contract production services for high-end design firms: including Arias+Sarraille Design and Jacobs Fulton Design Group in Palo Alto (both now sold), and Nimblefish in San Francisco. My assistance was for their clients such as BofA, Hyatt Regency, Sheraton Hotels, Joint Venture, Lowes Hotels and more. I have also provided gratuitous work in the form of art, design, photography and project management to various non-profits such as Ronald McDonald House, IABC, BMA and Western Art Directors Club. My most long standing services were for chairing the Western Art Directors Club mini art auction for 12 years. And for 7 years, I volunteered for Filoli in the public relations department. ARTISTIC STRENGTHS
Besides being detailed and highly conscientious about quality, I am also, by contrast, easy-going and love sharing art with others, like someone did with me when I was young. I feel a connection with children and the elderly where art allows them not only to develop their creativity but also a means to build self-esteem and confidence. Before and during college, I worked part- time with children for 7 years through San Jose Parks and Recreation (Day Camp, Fun Mobile visiting various classrooms, and after school programs). And currently for the past 10 years I’ve spent weekly time with my “elderly” friends at the YMCA pool. See some of my ART www.onlybydesign.com/mainpage/ARTPortfolio.pdf Over the past several years my artistic endeavors moved towards Photographic Art, which I have been successfully providing im- agery for posters, puzzles, paper plates and napkins, greeting cards and more. Photo-art is like combining photography with art. Common principles between art and photography are observing, focusing, interpreting and executing in various styles. www.onlybydesign.com/SurfaceDesigns/surface.designs_intro.html SKILLS AND EDUCATION
MAC computer skills include: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop plus Acrobat and some web design, Word, Excel & Filemaker Pro. MicroSoft Publisher on-the-PC side. Plus professional photography including studio lighting, and illustration in a variety of media including watercolor, pastel, black line art, scratch board, pencil and more I graduated magna cum laude from San Jose State University with a BS Degree in Graphic Design concentrating in ILLUSTRATION and PHOTOGRAPHY plus an unofficial minor in Ceramics. PART-TIME EXPERIENCE
Ten or more years ago I worked as a ticket services representative for Mountain View’s Center for Performing Arts. I provided clerical and accounting tasks for computerized sales and excellent customer service. My friendly, responsive and attentive demeanor was considered a valuable asset. It was fun and I found true enjoyment working with the public. Before Covid shutdown I was working part-time for 10 years for The Abigail Company, a small Real Estate Office in Los Altos. I provided clerical duties but also with my graphics talents I created ads, flyers and personal correspondence with their clients. GOALS
I am looking for a position in an atmosphere where my talents and creative spirit can be of value to others. and an environment where I can share those talents and skills, while engaging in the enjoyment of others. 1 OF 2
