Photography Slideshow Email project

oPhotographers at Rodale send out emails with a link that takes a person to a slideshow

oSlideshow was updated with jquery, specifically jQuery.cycle, the old version was Flash. (Step One)

oThey wanted the slideshow to be loaded up with somebody having no html skills, just loading to file folder.

oBuild a PHP piece that would pull from the folder using PHP and put in the slideshow. First, I would get the folder suing a PHP (file) and dump into an array, then I exploded the array into its pieces or file locations.

oIt would track ticket purchase for the Theatre events at the time.

oSecond PHP piece was used to show a report of customers who bought tickets and other items. Pulled the information from the database. We used sessions to grab data from our shopping cart.

PHP Login piece:

oTheatre ability to login to view purchases and launch emails

oPHP Login page- if you weren’t logged you were redirected.

oAfter logged, check for current/ past donations and send out an email blast

PHP Email piece:

oMy client was using a Yahoo account to send out emails to the members

oPut members into MySQL database by hand, and later built a PHP piece that would put them in automatically.

oThe PHP would select a mailing list to send and push out a newsletter to those on that list, we had 3 separate mailing lists.

oText emails were easier send first; we adapted the version slightly to use HTML where the newsletter image was embedded in PHP.
