EHS Coordinator for, Industrial Civil Contractor

As part of my duties, I’ve performed weekly safety toolbox meeting for the personnel and assist in the implementation of the safety program at our project. 2007 to 12/08 Alstom Caribe Inc./ San Juan Combined Cycle Project

/Palo Seco/ AES/Eco Electric Plants,San

Juan/Guayama/Guayanilla, P .R.

EHS Inspector

The project (San Juan plant) consists on the construction of two heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). The steam generated by the HRSGs will be expanded in the two steam turbines. The combustion turbine and steam turbine generator electrical output will be generated at 13.8kv and be stepped up to 115kv through a dedicated combined cycle plant generator step-up transformer which will connect to the new gas insulated substation. Repair of steam generator (palo seco plant) 1 to 4, modifications, repair of existing fuel lines to storage tanks and modification of fuel lines to generator turbines. Modification and repair of generator and gas lines (Eco electric plant).

My responsibilities also included performing daily and weekly safety field inspections. Gave support on reducing and eliminating hazards and unsafe conditions on job areas. Compliance with fire prevention program and emergency response program. Provide job safety planning assessments permits (JPSAs) and required permits such as hot work, confine space, lock out, tag out, etc.

In addition to these duties, I performed accident field investigations, attended to first aid and “near miss” cases. I prepared safety observations, reports to be discuss with company field personnel. Gave support and recommendations to supervision on corrective actions on job. Also participated on weekly site safety walkthroughs with the project safety committee. The project has achieved 3.2 million man- hours without a lost time accident.

2006-2007 Rust Constructors Inc./ San Juan Combined Cycle Project San Juan, P .R., $250+M

EHS Inspector

The project comprises completion of engineering, procurement, demolition, construction, and star-up of a combined cycle power plant of approximately 464MW net output. The combined cycle consist of two Siemens Westinghouse combustion turbines, each of which will provide exhaust to one of two unfired multi-purpose heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs). The steam generated by the HRSGs will be expanded in the two steam turbines. 2005- 2006 Skanska USA Building Inc./ Wyeth DVS/Viviant Project, Guayama, P.R., $100M

EHS Coordinator/Manager

The project consisted of the construction of two new manufacturing cells for the DVS and Viviant (BZA) product line, to be located in the Packaging Goods Warehouse. Also included new utility infrastructure to support the manufacturing cells. Both are solid dosages one is wet process and the other is dry process.

During this project my responsibilities were to coordinate new hire safety orientations for new subcontractors. Monitor that sub contractors requirements were in compliance before subcontractor was mobilized to job site. Give support to subcontractor safety personnel in the implementation of the project safety and health management program.

My responsibilities also included performing daily and weekly safety field inspections. Gave support on reducing and eliminating hazards and unsafe conditions on job areas. Provide general plant work permits and safety task assignment permits and required permits such as hot work confine space, excavations, lock out, tag out, roof access, etc. Evaluate subcontractor’s job safety analysis based upon job task description. Participate on rigging and crane operations.

Gave support to Skanska EH&S director in the implantation and maintenance of the environmental management system program, ISO 14001.

2004- 2005 Skanska USA Building Inc./ Abbott Humira Project, Barceloneta, P.R., $300M

EHS Coordinator

The Humira project consisted of a four Stories Manufacturing Building, office and laboratory building. In addition warehouse, support building and related site development and infrastructure upgrades were made.

As project safety coordinator my duties were to coordinate new hire safety orientation for subcontractors. Provided work permits and special required permits such as excavations confine space, hot work, lock out-tag out, roof access etc. Perform field safety inspections.

As part of my responsibilities, I was required to investigate and inform any accident or “near miss” from subcontractors that can directly or indirectly involve any personnel under my supervision. In addition to this, I was also involved monitoring and assurances that the corrective actions are been performed and ensuring that all employees received first aid as required.

In addition to these duties, I was responsible to conduct weekly safety meetings with subcontractor’s safety personnel. Participate at daily morning coordination meetings with subcontractors prior work starts. Also involved in the project safety committee. Responsible also for implementations of the ISO 14001.

Safety Officer

As safety officer, I was responsible for conducting safety toolbox meetings. Prepared daily work permits for working crews. I also conducted daily field inspections, observing, eliminating and reducing hazards, and any unsafe conditions that were to involve any of our employees under my supervision or employees from other contractors working on the same areas.

In addition to my duties, I was required to turn in daily, weekly, and monthly reports to our client such as field inspections, equipment inspections, man-hours and accident field investigation reports. I also participated in weekly safety meetings.

5/02- 12/02 Bird Construction Co./ Tren Urbano- Roosevelt Metro Station, Hato Rey, P.R.

Project Safety Manager

As Project safety manager I was directly responsible for the operation of the health and safety program for the current project. My responsibilities were to administer the safety program in compliance with the construction management of the project, Tren Urbano safety department and Road Authority requirements.

My responsibilities also included eliminating unsafe conditions not only for our employees but also to the general public since the project was located at a highly populated area were major office buildings and heavy traffic avenues.

As part of my responsibilities. I was required to investigate and inform any accident or “near miss” that can directly or indirectly involve any personnel under my supervision and the general public. I was also required to complete all reports pertaining to an accident or “near miss” these accidents also included personal damage, transit or property damage.
