December 2013 Trade Policy Analysis Seminar
The Trade Policy Analysis Seminar is a two-day seminar hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry which seeks to train employees of the agency for future negotiations. The seminar included discussions on the advantages of opening an economy to the world as well as the different techniques in assessing the country’s gains upon engaging in a free trade agreement (FTA). September 2013 ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA) Training on Rules of Origin (ROO)
AANZFTA Training on ROO was hosted by the Bureau of Customs and was attended by representatives from various government agencies. This four-day training seeks to help people understand what a free trade agreement is and the rules governing it.

Work includes the updating of the database for both Senate and House Bills that are of importance in the Trade and Industry sector. It is also the job of the analyst to make a comprehensive and comparative matrix as well as summary or report of the Senate and House version of the bills. Among these bills are Data Privacy, Competition Policy, Excise Tax or Sin Tax, Intellectual Property, Antitrust, and Fiscal Incentives among others. Research is also a significant aspect in the line of work. Making Committee Report briefers and identifying relevant newspaper articles to industry and trade are also part of the job of the analyst.
