Lead Project Engineer (Chemical) 01/1999 - 06/2020 Honeywell International, HPS Connected Plant (Advanced Solutions) – Houston, TX

• Applied first-principles (dynamic) models to design, configuration, implementation & commissioning of Advanced Process Control (APC) applications and Operator Training Systems (OTS) for multiple projects in the chemical and process industries, working with many control systems. Skills list includes a selection of the greenfield/brownfield processes worked on.

• Greenfield projects (for which operability & control systems configuration were validated) included: o Gas to Liquids (Syngas, Fischer-Tropsch and Products Work-up Unit) o Refinery complex, (including UOP technologies such as Oleflex) o Several platforms (gas/condensates, liquids)

o 5 LNG plants using Conoco-Phillips technology; 2 LNG plants using APCI technology o 2 ethylene crackers

o Ethylene oxide/Ethylene Glycol plant

• Successfully led/executed these multi-million-dollar projects in an agile project environment: managed internal engineering, customer technical relationships and project execution plans.

• Selected as technical manager (4 years) for Operations Assurance collaboration with major oil company leading to increased internal business and client-audited benefits across multiple projects.

• Recruited to serve as OTS corporate-wide project execution discipline lead (3 years) improving internal project technical execution consistency through best practice alignment.

• Provided business development support for 20+ project awards: presentations; benefits study; proposal development; training course delivery; continuing customer support.

• Selected to support New Product Introduction programs: Elearn initiatives and Dynamic Digital Twins (repurposing of rigorous OTS dynamic models) for look ahead and operations assurance.

• At PAS & Dot Products, prior to Honeywell acquisition, engineering experience included: o Configured/commissioned multivariable Non-Linear Controllers (NLC – kinetic model-based):

Polymer processes: EVA, PVAC, Spheripol polypropylene, Unipol Polyethylene

Geographies: Gulf Coast, Taiwan, South Africa

Implemented new state estimator based on moving horizon estimation o Commissioned Non-Linear Galaxy controller for acetic acid plant

Galaxy “enhanced” the proprietary STAR Linear Multivariable Controller o Commissioned steady-state equation-based optimizer for ethylene plant.

Contributed to review of approach for handling discontinuities (complementarity vs function approximation)

• On acquisition by Honeywell, supported integration of acquired technologies into Honeywell Profit Suite – including control law review (trajectory constraints) for NLC. 3
