Statement of Teaching Philosophy
As an educator with experience, I believe that education is an iterative process from which students learn. I desire to make learning enjoyable while informative and encourage students to be empowered. A collaborative and cooperative learning process is imperative to education. Students and staff must understand the fundamentals of why they are learning and teaching respectively. A constructivist viewpoint is essential for deep learning and fits right in with the values of Theory and Practice of most educational institutions.
Teaching is an enriching profession that provides educators and students with connections for continued educational endeavors. I believe that it is essential to challenge and inspire those being taught. I am a firm believer in helping students become active participants in learning.
It does not take much to realize that all people are different in the world. Therefore, students and staff are representative of many diversities. If one considers diversity, they must consider inclusion. I believe that it is possible to start conversations by taking time to see how the process of recognition of diversity and inclusion will assist in the better understanding of the world in general.
My administrative philosophy is a process in which you wear many different hats at the same time to be sure all the tasks you need to finish are done. It requires your attitude, aptitude, knowledge, skill, and fortitude to be successful at completing the job. Teamwork, discussion, and consensus are also a part of the administrative policy one must develop as an instructor/ administrator. This philosophy has developed through my experiences, training and learning opportunities. I am a firm believer that systemic functions are essential to successful educational organizations.
